     I wish I found Rescue Me sooner. I was looking for a dog for my mother-in law. I started off with another rescue, left three messages and no one returned my call, sent emails. Someone said they were waiting for a reference to return a call but they never left any of my references a message. When I found Rescue Me, I had messages returned the same day! Great place to adopt a dog! My mother-in law only set out to adopt one dog but adopted two!

     I lost my adorable Doxy, Tobias. I was devastated. I knew I would want another Doxy in the future, but only time would tell as to when that would be. Then, about a couple of months ago, I started going to the rescue sites and checking out Doxies. Very tentatively. I saw several that I found promising, but still could not bring myself to take the next step of making inquiries. Then, about three weeks ago, I saw a photo of a dachshund mix who I felt compelled to inquire about. A family was already in the process of adopting him. The next day I saw a posting about Lacey. She looked so proud, self-confident, and simply adorable on the stump! I also admired Ann Kelley for recognizing that she could no longer care for her beloved dog. That matched perfectly with my hope that I would adopt a dog from an elderly person. I called Ann, went over to her house, which is only about two miles from mine, and left with Lacey. That first night that she snuggled with me in bed was the first really good sleep I have had since Tobias passed. Since I only live two miles from Ann, I suggested going over to her house with Lacey once a week, and let them have some quality time for a couple of hours. Ann loves the idea. Now Lacey will have a mom and a grandma. Thanks, Rescue Me, for your efforts that make good things like this come to pass.

     This is truly a success story with Rescue Me! I know I found the perfect home for Rockie. The person who adopted him has a Dachshund by the name of Roxie. Rockie and Roxie, what a team. Rockie, just after a few hours after adoption, was already sitting on the new owners lap!! Wow! This little boy usually has trouble warming up to anyone.      Today is Buddy's birthday. He is one year old. The first year of his life has been a bit rough. He has been in and out of four homes, which were supposed to be forever but because of circumstances in the lives of each adoptive parent, he was unable to stay in the homes. But, today, on his first birthday, he is resting in the arms of a new mommy and daddy who are shedding tears of joy! They lost their beloved Dachshund three years ago at the age of 15. Now they are ready to love again and little Buddy literally bounced into their door and took his place in their lives. As I left him in his mom's arms, I looked back at him and his forever family and saw through my tears, all of us had years and Buddy has a big smile on his face. Thank you, Rescue Me!

     We lost our last baby JoJo, who was a Chiweenie last August. We have always had a Dachshund or Dachshund mix and decided to start checking on websites. Barney really touched us when we read the circumstances of his being available for adoption. We talked with Roxanne there at Rose Acres Rescue, she was very helpful in telling us all about Barney. We set up a time to visit and were very pleased that all his shots had been done and he was ready to come home with us.      We adopted Chester from Joanne after we lost our beloved Chocolate Lab, Ranger, after having him for 15 years. This little guy is one of the nicest dogs we've ever had and we have owned lots of dogs over the last 50 years. He has filled a big empty spot in our lives. He is 10 months old and has found his forever home right here with us. We have always taken excellent care of our dogs and spared no expense when it comes to their health and well being, and it will be exactly the same with Chester. The hardest part was leaving Joanne's home with him because we knew how hard it was for her to give him up. She had reached the point in life where she felt she could no longer give him the care she thought he needed, and had the strength and courage to transfer him to someone who could. Her dog's wellbeing was very important to her. She has an open invitation to come visit him any time. We would not have found Joanne or Chester without Rescue Me and very much appreciate your website. Larry and Mary LeFever

     Thank you Jeff for this web site. I had 10 requests for my dog Chester, my 10 month old dachshund red mini. I had a choice who to pick for the adoption. Parting with my dog was difficult, but the new owner was very patient with me before I decided to part with Chester. I know Chester is very happy in his new home, which gives me much satisfaction and peace of mind. Due to my age and health, I could no longer give Chester the life he deserved.      The day that I found Coco and Monakee on Rescue Me was a great day!!! We have a love affair with Doxies and were not deterred from taking on two at a time. They are eight and ten years old but you would not know it. I micro chipped both dogs yesterday because Monakee has gotten out of our yard a couple of times now. She is not good about coming to your command.      I had the most amazing experience with Rescue Me! Happy Tails Rescue contacted me and offered me help in placing my dogs. This was the hardest experience I've had to deal with in a very long time. I wasn't able to stay and care for my home anymore. My son wanted me to move to Seattle and I could only have one pet. I also was going to spend the winters in another state and could only have one pet where I'd be staying. So, to have to decide which one to keep was more than I could face. So when Terri, from Happy Tails Rescue contacted me, it was like a prayer had been offered. She agreed to take Ace and Mia into her home and access them to see if they should stay together or could be split. She took them to appointments and got them ready for their forever homes. She even let them sleep with her and her six dogs. What a woman! A wonderful woman was looking at pictures of the dogs posted on this site and she saw Mia and Ace and just knew that they would be a perfect fit for her 85 year old Aunt. All three of them met and Terri interviewed them and she agreed that it would be the perfect home for my babies. We've all kept in contact and I know that in the end, I did the right thing. I know there are some of you out there that are saying 'I'd never give up my dogs for any reason' and I was probably one of you that yelled the loudest. But sometimes things happen in our lifetime that we do not get a say so. So I'm asking those of you not to judge too harshly because until you are personally in that spot, you just don't know. So please be supportive of these people. I cried for days. I couldn't talk about it to anyone. It was too raw. I felt like someone had taken part of me and it was gone, and to have to face the fact that you couldn't change it. Maybe knowing that you could make one phone call and get them back... But then you'd have to go through it again. I hate the fact that my body didn't last as long as me, and that family feels that I am no longer safe living alone and that someone has to monitor me. I'm sorry to have gone on and on, but my dogs deserve the best and this site provided that. Thank you for all of you that support and look to this site to put love back in your life.

     I adopted George, a Doxie mix. Greg processed my application quickly, checked references and got us the pup real quick. I was working with another adoption sight that just took forever.      Friday the 13th was a lucky day for my wife and me. We saw Marlow on Rescue Me. We lost our little boy Dachshund to heart failure and we were heart broken. As soon as we saw Marlow, we knew we wanted her to be our little girl. We contacted Marlow's foster Mom and things went so well that two days later we were on our way to pick Marlow up!      Oreo was living in a wire crate in the back yard. One of our volunteers talked the family into surrendering him to PAWS. We found out later that they pressure-washed him before handing him over to us! Poor Oreo was in need of some LOVE and medical attention, but he didn't let this get him down. He is very loving and is a lap dog now. Thanks to Rescue Me, Oreo was adopted to a great home and gets plenty of attention, car rides and LOVE. His new family now wants to adopt another dog from us. PS: We are still trying to get Oreo's former family to give up another dog that needs us.

     I found my two new pets on this wonderful website. I searched several states on this website. I found my two pets in another state. The family was moving north and would travel close to where I live. I contacted the previous owner and she agreed to meet me. I fell in love with these two dogs. They are adjusting very well and have made their self at home. My grandchildren live next door and the dogs just love them. I rescued a stray dog before from the streets.      The term 'rescue' in this case is definitely an appropriate action for our little Spinelli. He was in a private home where I drove two hours for him. When I arrived, it was evident that he lived in a small carry crate outside. He had a terrible skin rash and a large area on his back and tail that was missing hair. He itched constantly. He also had fleas. We treated him immediately. We also loved him immediately. He literally has a huge smile now. I do not think he was ever walked and he loves to go. I am so thankful for Rescue Me, which led me to this new member of our family.

     Sparky came to us as his owner couldn't keep him. We kept him knowing it would be temporary until we could find a loving full time home for him. Putting off the inevitable for a while, our children becoming close to Sparky and it wasn't making the decision easier. We are a very large and busy family. It is not fair to Sparky or an animal to not be able to devote the time they deserve. A friend told me about Rescue Me, and within 24 hours of posting Sparky's photo and story, he found his forever home.      Rescue Me is a wonderful site. My son and daughter-in-law brought this pretty little dachshund home about three weeks ago. They were moving out and couldn't take her. The six people that adopted Olivia 'Sweet P' had to drive three hours to get here, but they were very determined to get her.      We had been searching for a home for GiGi for months! She had been abandoned at our boarding facility two years ago and had already been returned once before due to a change in circumstance for the adopter. She was a sweet girl that was so well behaved, it was completely frustrating that she was not being adopted! We had her on Petfinder and tried to post her as much as possible, but it was looking doubtful for poor GIGI. Then after only a week on Rescue Me, she got three people who wanted her, all within three days time! It was so amazing to see that sweetheart get so excited to be leaving the kennel! It was my mission to get her adopted, and after so much heart ache to see her have three potential homes. It was so relieving!

     I've been a member of this website for a while, but was in the midst of moving so I was unable to adopt. I closed on my house the same night I logged in and found this little gem. Khalessi is a ray of sunshine to me. In 2011, I lost my black and tan male dachshund due to age. He passed at the age of 18. After losing him, I said I didn't think I could love another Doxie the way I did him. Once I joined Rescue Me, my feelings began to change. Now that Khalessi is here, I know adopting her at this moment was the right thing to do. Adopting a rescued pet means a life saved, and she's so worth it.

     A family with two children came out for a meet and greet with Hans. While I was a little concerned that Hans may be too much dog for children ages five and eight, Hans was great with the children. He seemed to sense they were small and he needed to be gentle. Hans has waited a very long time to find his forever home and the home he did find was well worth the wait. They love him and he loves them. He is young enough, he will grow up with the children and they will be best of buddies. We know little about Hans' background, we rescued him from a kill shelter and he had been picked up running loose. No one came in to claim him. He will have a great life now as a family member.      I'm sure no one has had a success story like mine. I had a few people contact me for my baby, Angel. There was one lady that stood out among the others. She and her husband and their son were more than what I expected to find. Angel would be treated just as she was treated at home with me. The only reason I was giving Angel up was I had to move and I could not afford to pay the deposit for having an animal. Stephanie and Robert came to my house to pick her up. As they were leaving, I was crying because I was going to miss Angel so much. About an hour later, I got a phone call from Stephanie saying that she cried all the way home and knew how she would have felt should it have been her baby. She then informed me that they talked it over, and they wanted to pay my deposit so I could keep Angel. They wouldn't take no for an answer. So, I still have my little girl with me and I have met two new friends. They also wanted to update her shots this year and every year. God sent them to me, I firmly believe. Stephanie and I text every day. I now have two new best friends. I love you Stephanie and Robert. Thank you, Rescue Me, for putting us together.

     After finding out that we were expecting our second child in two years, we knew that our beloved dogs needed a new home to get all of the love and attention that they deserve.      I am so pleased with my success in finding two doting new parents for my Rascal. I had been looking for a good match for about three months before posting on Rescue Me. Two nights ago, I stumbled across Rescue Me online, posted his information and picture, went to bed. When I woke up in the morning and checked my email, to my surprise, I had a prospect! We made arrangements to meet which required a four hour round trip ride in the car. As soon as we got there, I knew this was just what I had been searching for. Rascal liked the couple and I loved watching him explore their fenced in yard. It was painful to leave him, but I wanted what was best for Rascal. 48 hours later, and I am grateful to the new owners and Rescue Me for helping me find a good home for Rascal.

After only posting Theo's information over the weekend, we were contacted by a wonderful woman that saw his picture.      Thanks to Rescue Me, we were fortunate enough to find a young family to adopt Emma and Lucy today. They have two young children and she doesn't work outside the home. They had rescued a Doxie 10 years ago, at age four, and had until she passed away at age 14. They were delighted to get our dogs and I think they will be a good fit for Emma and Lucy. We are happy that they won't have to be crated any longer. They have a doggie door and a securely fenced back yard so the dogs can go in and out on their own.
