Rescue Me ID: 16-09-20-00656Mila (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mila is a darling young pup - we're guessing she's a Dachshund and Rat Terrier mix. Her personality has bloomed and her confidence is building each day! Mila is a high-energy dog and would benefit from regular exercise with an active family where she can build a loving bond. She is learning how to play with toys and has started playing with her canine foster siblings! Mila is good about sharing her food dish and is curious and friendly towards cats. She is housebroken, intelligent, doing well learning how to walk on a leash, and is being crate trained. She loves to cuddle and sleep with her foster family and canine foster siblings. If ... Animal ID: D-24-16Rusty - cuddly (male)

Dachshund    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Rusty is a cute little reddish brown purebred Dachshund who loves to go for walks and snuggle with his person. He is currently 6 years old and weighs 17 lbs. I came to Sumner County Animal Control and found an older woman sobbing in the lobby because she was so distraught about having to give up her two senior Dachshunds so I told her I would take them and find great homes for them. Rusty is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, microchipped and current on flea and heartworm prevention. Daffney and Rusty have always received regular vet care so he is in great shape for his age. Rusty would really love to be adopted with his ... (Read More)best friend, Daffney, if possible. Rusty's adoption fee is $150 by himself or $300 for him and Daffney together. Rusty is trained to use pee pads in the house and also thoroughly enjoys going walking. He would do best as an only dog unless he is adopted with Daffney as he gets jealous of his person. If you are interested in adopting this little sweetie, please email healingheartsrescue@hotmail.com. You can also call or text (615) 290-2454. (Less)

Dachshund    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Daffney is an adorable little black and tan purebred Dachshund who is quite the spunky little gal. Even though she is 8 years old, Daffney is no couch potato! She can easily keep up with larger dogs when walking because she gallops happily along with them. I came to Sumner County Animal Control and found an older woman sobbing in the lobby because she was so distraught about having to give up her two senior Dachshunds so I told her I would take them and find great homes for them. Daffney is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, microchipped and current on flea and heartworm prevention. Daffney has always received regular vet ... Daffney's adoption fee is $150 by herself or $300 for her and Rusty together. Daffney is trained to use pee pads in the house and also thoroughly enjoys going walking. She is great with kids, cats and other dogs. If you are interested in adopting this spunky girl, please email healingheartsrescue@hotmail.com. You can also call or text (615) 290-2454. Rescue Me ID: 16-08-31-00112Tank (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Tank is good with one other dog in the house here, but she is extremely submissive, which is why I said his compatibility is unknown with other dogs. My daughter brings her boxer mix over and he hides from it, but he's all puppy and bigger than Tank, so he's quite over the top playful. I think he'd be fine after a bit of 'gentle' introduction. My husband has demanded that I rehome this dog. I just had him at the vet about 2 weeks ago, so I have his tag, and I'm asking a small homing fee, just to offset the vet bill. Please help me find a home where he'll get all the cuddles he needs!!! He's precious!!!

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-21-00148Barney (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Barney has been with us at Russell Rescue for quite some time now. He is a distinguished southern gentleman; very, cool, calm and collected at our adoption events. He is a pleasure both in and out of his crate and so perfect on a leash, a 2 year old could walk him. This is probably why he keeps getting overlooked, he is too quiet! Barney would be a wonderful companion dog for someone that is looking for a four legged friend that takes life at a slower pace. He would enjoy a little morning walk with you and then maybe a midday nap, he would make an excellent co-pilot for someone that likes to take afternoon drives. Of course all dogs love ... (Read More)spending time roaming around outside but Barney isn't going to need a ton of room to run, he would much rather be right by you. I think he could very easily adjust to apartment/condo living. I could even see Barney enjoying life on the open road, traveling cross country via RV or tractor trailer for those looking to add a road buddy to their life! Barney is very affectionate and soaks up any attention shown to him. After spending just a little time with this boy he will absolutely melt your heart. He has some of the deepest soulful eyes; I swear you could get lost in them. Barney can picky about the dogs he shares his time with, which has been the only issue we have heard from people that have taken him on trial periods. He isn't a huge fan of sharing his person. Barney will need an adopter not afraid to be the 'alpha' and probably a trial run would be best if there are any other dogs already in the home. I do believe he would be fine around children, although as with all dogs kids need to be taught to respect a dog and how to properly handle him. Considering his lack of interest in the cats at Petsmart, I also think a feline roommate would be fine with Barney. We are looking for a foster or (even better) a forever home for Barney.
