Rescue Me ID: 15-09-29-00503Dixie (female)
Dixie is an 11 pound little girl with a typical 'big dog' attitude. She is sweet but she lets everyone know who's in charge. She is house trained, crate trained and leash trained, loves squeaky toys, treats and snuggles. Dixie would do well as an only dog or with one or two other dogs that are tolerant of her 'in charge' attitude. Our adoption fee is $150.00. Application and home visit are required, also Vet reference if you have other pets.

Rescue Me ID: 15-09-17-00846Lucy (female)
Lucy has been in a home with small kids and has done fine. However, she didn't like visiting kids, but her owners didn't help her learn to accept them. Recently she bit a toddler who hit her, and the family has turned her in. She knows several commands, is house trained, and has loved her kids and her former foster's kids. Lucy is smart and otherwise well-behaved, but would probably do best with older kids or no kids, and as an only dog.She got along with some of foster's dogs, but not all. She has been trained to stay out of some rooms of owner's home, and to stay in certain areas of home with no issues. Lucy just needs a family who is willing to put the effort forth to teach her how to be the GREAT dog she is capable of being! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-09-11-00508Sambuca (male)
Sambuca is an adorable little chiweenie, who is very affectionate, and will spend all day in your lap. He doesn't like to be picked up by strangers, but once he knows you he is easily handled. We think someone may have been rough with him in the past. Once he gets to know you he is just the best little dog. He will play and cuddle endlessly. He is neutered, current on vaccines and heart worm negative. I am house trained, crate trained, neutered and up to date on my vaccinations. My adoption fee $200. Please apply for me online at - http://www.adoptapet.com/rural-animal-rescue-effort-rare/adoption-application-2/ or email firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll get one to you today! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-08-21-00115Bella (female)
I need help finding my baby girl a home! She bit my daughter a few months ago and I don't want to keep her so it doesn't happen again. I had other arrangements for her after it happen but now they aren't working out. I want to make sure she goes to a great forever home that can take care of her. She has a medical condition that I believe is making her more irritable and she's getting older so those things don't mix well with a toddler. Her medical condition has also made her less active. When she over exerts herself it gets worse. I don't have the funds to continue vet visits and medications. She has what is called a reverse sneeze and the vet gives her a steroid periodically. The last time we went was in April and she had some congestion so they gave her an antibiotic and steroid. They said if it got better while on the medications then we would have to continue with that when it started up. They said if that stopped working we would have to look into x-Rays, more tests, and possibly surgery. As I stated before I do not have the funds for the continued visits and meds so I really don't have it for the other stuff. I feel horrible because I know I should be able to provide for her but I can't and I don't want to have to put her to sleep when there might be someone out there who can care for her. She is housed trained using a doggy door. As long as she has that to go into a fenced in yard to potty, she will use it! Without the doggy door, I've never had luck house training or crate training. If she doesn't have a way to get out when she has to go and is alone in the house, she will go in the house. If you are there when she needs to go she will let you know she needs to go out if she doesn't have a door. Please contact me with more questions if you are able to give my baby a new forever home and take care of her needs! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dachshund in Tennessee
Dachshund Dogs can make good pets in Tennessee if they match your IifestyIe. The Dachshund is a long, short-legged dog with a temperament similar to that of a terrier. Dachshunds are cheeky, playful, mischievous, and resistant to training or discipline. Dachshunds do well with older children. Dachshunds are well suited to apartment life but need exercise, and it is important that they not be overfed as this breed is prone to weight gain.
