See below for our ideal puppy adopters! Birthdate - 6/3/14 Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. You need to be prepared for that work. Because our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious where we put puppies. Our ideal puppy adopters are: *experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets *be scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day *and for those gone 4 hours per day have another canine companion in the home *be stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) If you fit this critera, please apply for this puppy. If you do not fit this criteria, we strongly encourage you to look at our adoptable adult dogs. The number one misconception that we hear routinely from new dog owners is that they want a puppy because they do not think they can handle correcting past bad behaviors or resolving baggage. Not every adoptable rescue dog carries such baggage. Many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who have lost their families through no fault of their own. The second misconception we hear is that adult dogs can not bond with a new family. This again is not a true statement. Adult dogs are ready and eager to give you their love. In return, you get a family pet that is a known quantity, known size and shape and color and ready to start on the new adventure, their life with you. Lastly, training a puppy correctly is a tremendous commitment of time and energy. This is why we ask the puppy seeker have more time at home than the average working family. Puppies are gregarious and social creatures who crave attention and positive direction. You need the extra time to do it right. Please note - we do not ship dogs.     Mimosa is a beautiful 4 year old black and tan dapple. Her former home had her as an inside dog for the first year of her life and a full time outside dog for the remainder. She was adopted but after 2 weeks she started being protective of her new people and bit 2 visitors. I recommend a dog savvy person to adopt her or a couple or person that doesn't have much company and is willing to crate her when they have visitors.     We have dachshund mix puppies looking for homes. The owner could not care for the puppies so reached out to us for help. They are 6-7 weeks old and are eating puppy chow on their own. They have received their first set of shots and have been dewormed, and will be going home with their medical records. They are too young to be spayed/neutered at this time, however we are requiring them to be spayed/neutered when of age, around 6 months old. They look to be mostly dachshund, maybe another small breed in there? We were able to meet the mom and she is a purebred dachshund, but we are not sure what dad was. They are all very friendly, happy, ... (Read More)and ready to find homes of their own. Dachshund Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sabine is a Beagle full of full of cuteness in a Dachshund size package! What a wonderful girl she is! Sabine spent her life in a breeder cage until Cinco de Mayo. She and 8 of her kennel mates were rescued into love and a terrific future. What a wonderful sight it was to see them all running on the grass together and learning to play. Sabine went to the dentist for the first time and lost a few teeth, so she eats soft foods now, but she has gotten her appetite for that and learned the word 'treat'. She is living with two Dachshunds and a Labrador Retriever and holding her own at playtime now. She has learned how to be cuddled and ... (Read More)like it! She is learning to be housebroken and doing better than anyone expected. Right now she is answering to the name 'Sadie', and she is so curious about everything. She learned how to climb the steps but didn't think about how to get down. Poor baby, she let us know she knew the 'Beagle Bay' - but that did not stop her from doing it again in a few minutes and this time she made it all the way down all by herself!! She pranced around. She has spent the last three weeks learning! She now knows about Pup-a-Roni treats, boiled chicken breast, bones filled with frozen peanut butter, mmmm good! Smelly dog sock toys (they are great in her crate at night). She is definitely a quiet Southern Lady! Sabine/Sadie will make someone a wonderful companion. With or without another dog in the household she will be just fine. We are hoping she gets a home with someone ready to give her a lot of love and attention. She has almost six years of crate time behind her - now she needs some love and fresh air. We have a fence and a back door that she can open and go out at will. She loves it. Someone will need to help her learn to be on a leash. We want to let her have all the freedom we can while we have her. Are you full of love to give? Remember - Love is the ONLY thing you can give and give and give and never find the bottom of the bag! The more you give - the more you have! Can you give a lot to this precious girl? UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE Sabine/Sadie would like to add a message of her own!! 'I heard what was written and it is all fine, BUT '| I decided I did not like that idea of soft food all the time, so this morning I decided to try out Bubba's breakfast. He was OK with that. He gets a mix of kibble and soft food. It was GOOD and I had NO problem chewing it! I am just fine. All soft food is for an OLD dog, not me! '| and while I have the floor, I would like to put in my wishes for my dream home: ~~ I would just LOVE to have my very own little girl! About ten or eleven would be perfect (boys usually want a lot more '| ?? I would like a cuddly girl who wants to play, but cuddle a lot - I am just a little girl myself ~~ So far I have not been around a lot of people so I don't know what it would be like. I am kind of liking getting used to this wonderful, new life slowly - so I am NOT looking to be in the middle of a lot noise and confusion. That's all - I don't want much - just a whole lot of love and I will give a lot in return, I promise. Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mary is a 2 year old mixed hound/beagle pup. She is small and only weighs about 25-30 lbs. Mary has been in foster care for about a month and is blossoming, but still needs an experienced dog owner who can rehabilitate her and teach her to trust. She loves to walk on a leash with her foster pack and is crate trained. Mary was the victim of a hoarding case. She was seized with several other dogs, living in a kennel, fighting for food and space. Please consider giving Mary a chance at life. She has never had one! Mary's adoption fee is $150 to assist with medical expenses. She has been spayed, current on rabies, and heart worm ... (Read More)preventative. Oh, and she is housetrained and loves her crate! Rescue Me ID: 13-12-26-00083Isaac (male)

Dachshund    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Isaac is a sweet boy who loves a good lap and curling up under a blanket. We love him very much, but we have a toddler and a baby and feel like we cannot give him the attention he deserves. Isaac is housebroken and kennel trained. He does well with our children, but he would probably do better in a home with older children (because he wants to be the baby). We love Isaac and want to find him the best home possible! Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Dachshund    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dasher is 4-5 years old red smooth coat. He is a sweet boy and loves people. He needs a family with no children for the reason that he was surrendered to the animal shelter because he bit his owner but I don't see any signs of aggression and neither did the shelter. He is neutered UTD on vaccines, heartworm negative. He does have some issues with his front legs. He has really bowed front legs and loose tendons. The vet said that he most likely had rickets as a puppy and stretched his tendons. His joints pop when he walks. The vet said he doesn't have any discomfort from this and he gets around just fine. We have him on joint supplements now ... (Read More)and he could develop arthritis later in life but now he is fine. He doesn't know he has a disability. Because of his minor disability his adoption fee is reduced to 200.00 (Less)
