Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Julian is a 12 week old dachshund/Chihuahua mix whose owner didn't have enough time for him and posted him for sale on a group called 'One Man's Junk' so we stepped in to help and keep him from going to the pound or someone with bad intentions. We have had him brought up to date on his vaccinations and preventatives, but he will need to be neutered when of an appropriate age. He had fleas and a place on his nose that is healing up, but he is now on Advantix II. Julian is very sweet to everyone he meets and he loves kids, cats, and other dogs. He is crate trained and doing well so far with house training. If interested in adopting Julian, ... (Read More)please message us for an adoption application! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-15-00518Woody (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Date into Rescue: 5/29/2017 Reason for being in rescue: hhhr transfer. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: about 11 lbs and growing, will most likely hit close to 20 when full grown Height: About 9' at the shoulder currently Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? no fence needed but it never hurts to have one! What kind of home would be best for me? I want a home with a lot of love! I need someone to show me how to be confident and teach me that it is okay to be on my own. I would love someone to give me belly rubs all day and go on lots of walks and adventures. What is my personality like? I am a ... (Read More)quiet pup, I keep my puppy brothers out of trouble and I like to think I am the calmest out of the bunch. I get worried if we get separated and I try to look for them to make sure they are okay. I am super sweet and once I get to know you my favorite pass time is to play on your lap and get affection. How do I act when I first meet new people? I am shy and quiet at first, a little reserved; but once you sit in the floor and tell me it's okay everything's good and we can start playing! More tips and tidbits: I love my rope toy! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 2/7/2017 PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. You need to be prepared for that work. Because our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious where we put puppies. Our ideal puppy adopters are: *experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets *be scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day *and for those gone 4 hours per day have another canine companion in the home *be stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) If you fit this criteria, please apply for this puppy. If you do not fit this criteria, we strongly encourage you to look at our adoptable adult dogs. The number one misconception that we hear routinely from new dog owners is that they want a puppy because they do not think they can handle correcting past bad behaviors or resolving baggage. Not every adoptable rescue dog carries such baggage. Many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who have lost their families through no fault of their own. The second misconception we hear is that adult dogs can not bond with a new family. This again is not a true statement. Adult dogs are ready and eager to give you their love. In return, you get a family pet that is a known quantity, known size and shape and color and ready to start on the new adventure, their life with you. Lastly, training a puppy correctly is a tremendous commitment of time and energy. This is why we ask the puppy seeker have more time at home than the average working family. Puppies are gregarious and social creatures who crave attention and positive direction. You need the extra time to do it right.~~ Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. (Less)

BB is a super senior dachshund who weighs 19 pounds and at the age of 15 years, is looking for a forever home to enjoy his retirement years. BB is a submissive boy who loves car rides and looking out the window during rides. He very much likes other dogs and children. He has not been cat tested. He is playful for short bursts. This means that BB should never be allowed to jump up or down off of furniture and must always be carried up and down stairs. BB is a little comic and loves to stick his nose in the floor AC vent. BB is house trained but like all dachshunds he will need to be confident in his environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience. BB does well on a leash and enjoys short walks in his North Carolina foster home. BB loves to sleep in the big bed and he would like a home where he can continue to enjoy this privilege. This wonderful senior boy is look for a loving home where he can have cuddles and loving arms to surround him. He is waiting for you! (Less)

Animal ID: 201702-07Mikie (male)

Dachshund    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Mikie is a gorgeous 6 year old 11 pound handsome longhair dachshund looking for a calm, loving home. A sweet and loving boy, Mikie needs a home that is calm, loving and quiet. Mikie is good with other dogs and kitties but does not seem comfortable with young children under 14. Mikie prefers women to men and would do very well in a home where he could receive a lot of love and attention. Little Mikie is afraid of men wearing work boots, ball caps, and loud male voices. This makes us suspect he has suffered some trauma at some time. Mikie is working on his house training but needs a consistent schedule and he will mark if not watched ... (Read More)carefully. Mikie will have accidents in the house and needs to continue to work on his house training. Mikey will tolerate a crate for a short time but gets upset after an hour so he would do best in a home where he is not expected to spend a significant amount of time in a crate. Mikie is heartworm positive and is being treated with GetALong Dachshund Rescue's slow kill protocol. We will provide this treatment for Mikie to any approved adopter until such time Mikie tests negative for heartworms. MIkie is a very submissive and skittish little fellow and will get upset if he is let alone but he does get over it quickly. His foster mom has watched him on her security camera when she is away from the house and seen that he calms quickly. Mikie enjoys going for walks and does very well on a leash. While he is being treated for heartworms he should only go on short, gentle walks. Mikie just loves car rids and lays down and snoozes through trips. Mikie loves to sleep in the big bed and share those special cuddles and would like a home where he could continue to have big bed privileges. This tiny little boy is a fussy eater and does need some incentive to eat. Before he came into rescue, he had lived outside, abandoned when his family moved away. He was with a female dog and some kind neighbours were bringing the 2 dogs food. Mikie would let her have the food and she was round and plump, while he was nearly starved. Mikie eats only a small amount at a time and needs to fed a few times a day to help him maintain a healthy weight. This loving little boy is looking for a home that understands that he will need some time to trust. He needs a calm and quiet environment to teach him that he is loved and safe. Wouldn't you love to be the one to show Mikie that he deserves to be loved? (Less)

Dachshund    Age: Senior

Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hey there! My name is Annabelle. I am a spunky, older lady. I am about 12 years old and I weigh 14 pounds but I have plenty of energy and spunk left! I mean, heck, I was found and taken in by a vet's office because I was out playing in traffic even though my back legs didn't work! It's all good now though. They took me into the office and I hadn't been hit by a car or anything. Even without full leg function I was too spry for that! I just had a little bout of IVDD like a lot of my Dachshund friends. With some time and care I was back up and running in no time. You might still notice a little hitch in my step, but I get around just fine. I ... (Read More)do need to live somewhere I don't have to deal with stairs though. I should never jump on or off of furniture either. That would really help me a lot! It would be better if I wasn't in a home with small children either. Oh, I also don't have any teeth. Jealous? Doesn't slow my eating down any, I promise you that! My foster family wets my kibble to make it easier for me to eat. Man do I have them trained'| Teeth or no teeth one of my favorite things to do is chew on this deer antler at my foster family's house. Feels great! I don't mind if you humans take my antler (or my food) but I do NOT like my foster brothers and sisters to try it. IT'S MINE! I don't care if I have teeth or not my little rambunctious foster brother'| I shall challenge you to a duel! Of course, this means I do fine with other dogs, but I do have to be watched if there's food or treats or a dog bed I really like laying around. I will claim them and I'll let all the other dogs know! I do GRRRR sometimes at my foster kitty sibling but she walks off and ignores silly me. Yeah I can be a little dominant, especially with other dominant ladies, but I do like the boys, unless they're trying to take my food. Just sayin' that's off limits fellas. I would like home where there are boy doggies or a girl who isn't bossy like I am. I am getting better at letting my foster family know when I need to go outside. Like all dachshunds I need to be confident in my home to have good potty habits. All us rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so please be understanding and patient with me? I am great in my crate. I love my crate! Again, I have this family so wrapped around my finger. I have my own orthopaedic bed in my crate, with some blankets. It's no wonder I don't want anyone else to go in there! I do like sleeping in the big bed of course, but I do just fine in my own space as long as I know where my family is! I am quite happy that way. I love to just hang out on my dog bed under a blanket while you watch TV. Well, unless you're having pizza. If I smell pizza it's like I can't help myself. I'm going to ask you for some of it. I am going to bounce around, whine, scratch at your leg, and generally do what it takes to get some of the yummy stuff! Anyway, I'm happy to hang out with my foster family for a while. They're pretty cool, but I would love a place of my own. Interested in hooking an old lady up? I promise I'm entertaining! Love Annabelle Annabelle absolutely a sweetheart. She loves people and she's a little clown. She shows off when new people come over. Loves to roll on her back on the carpet while grunting at everyone. This wonderful girl is just waiting for a chance for a forever home in her foster home in North Carolina. Is she the one for you ? Rescue Me ID: 16-10-19-00247Coco of Lavonia HW + (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 07/16/2016 Reason for being in rescue: owner release to a northeast Georgia shelter/owners lost home Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Coco is very lightly heartworm positive -he will be sent home with one year's of heartworm preventative (called the slow kill method) Weight: about 18 lbs Height: about 12' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? no What kind of home would be best for me? Coco would do best in a home with an experienced adopter who will assert their role as leader of the pack. Otherwise, Coco will gladly take over as head of the household. What is my ... (Read More)personality like? Coco has a very confident and dominant type personality. He is headstrong and he definitely has a stubborn streak. He likes to do whatever he wants and he can give a little attitude if you are trying to make him do something he doesn't want to do. Coco is an energetic dog and he absolutely loves playtime. His favorite thing to do is to rip the stuffing out of his toys. How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly but also cautious. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Reportedly 4 years old so estimated birthdate is 6/25/2012 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.
