(Read More)the end of the day or the end of the play, you'll always find us snuggled together. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 4/2/2017 PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. You need to be prepared for that work. Because our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious where we put puppies. Our ideal puppy adopters are: *experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets *be scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day *and for those gone 4 hours per day have another canine companion in the home *be stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) If you fit this criteria, please apply for this puppy. If you do not fit this criteria, we strongly encourage you to look at our adoptable adult dogs. The number one misconception that we hear routinely from new dog owners is that they want a puppy because they do not think they can handle correcting past bad behaviors or resolving baggage. Not every adoptable rescue dog carries such baggage. Many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who have lost their families through no fault of their own. The second misconception we hear is that adult dogs can not bond with a new family. This again is not a true statement. Adult dogs are ready and eager to give you their love. In return, you get a family pet that is a known quantity, known size and shape and color and ready to start on the new adventure, their life with you. Lastly, training a puppy correctly is a tremendous commitment of time and energy. This is why we ask the puppy seeker have more time at home than the average working family. Puppies are gregarious and social creatures who crave attention and positive direction. You need the extra time to do it right.~~ (Less)

Animal ID: 201704-17 201704-18Rocky & Brownie (male)

Dachshund    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Rocky and Brownie are a bonded pair of happy, calm senior dachshunds looking for a forever home. Rocky is a spry 15 year old boy and Brownie is his 10 year old companion. Rocky and Brownie spend their days enjoying life in their foster home in North Carolina. They spend a lot of time sleeping and snuggling together. The ultimate in lap dogs, they follow their foster mom everywhere she goes and seize every opportunity for a snuggle and some loves. Rocky will jump on a lap the moment he has a chance! Brownie doesn't always want to be on his fosters lap but if you DARE leave the room without him he will BARK BARK BARK until his person comes ... (Read More)back! Rocky and Brownie sleep in the big bed and they would like a home where they can continue to enjoy big bed privileges. Brownie and Rocky have a ramp to get into the big bed, but being a dachshund, Brownie is a wee bit stubborn and refuses to try it. Instead, he barks at the top of his lungs until his foster mom picks him up and puts him in his very special BIG bed. Rocky and Brownie love a car ride and enjoy taking trips with their people. They are crate trained but would rather not be in one and will complain if they are locked up. Rocky and Brownie do well with other dogs but are not tested with kitties or young children. Rocky and Brownie do well with their house training if they are kept on a regular schedule but like most dachshunds will have accidents if not put outside regularly. Like all dachshunds they need to be confident in their environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important. It is important that their new family be in the habit of going outside every 2 hours or so. A pair of dachshunds to love! What could be better? Apply today to adopt Rocky and Brownie! (Less)

I'm a curious and eager to explore kind of puppy! None Weight: 4 lb Adoption Fee: $200.00 Fence needed? Yes, I need that space to help get out all of my energy! What kind of home would be best for me? I would do well in a lot of different homes, but definitely one that understands and is excited about all that's involved with raising a puppy. I need a home that gives me lots to do and explore! I could do well as an only dog as long as I'm kept busy with ... (Read More)different activities and allowed to socialize with other dogs regularly. Otherwise it'll probably be best that I have a sibling or two to help me continue learning and to have a buddy (Google only dog syndrome). What is my personality like? I am curious and like to explore with my brother Franklin. I am happiest when there is something new to discover. I like to tussle. But I am the super snuggler of my litter. I need a lap to snuggle in regularly. How do I act when I first meet new people? I love everything and everybody! Please hold and snuggle me! More tips and tidbits: I am well balanced with a good attitude. I was named by a 5- year-old little girl in the vet office. Foster mom promised she would keep the goofy name until I was adopted! House trained? I'm still working on this! I will be easy to crate train. I like pee pads. I currently go on one side of the crate and sleep on the other. Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Dachshund    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Say hello to Mama! She is 12 years old and weighs about 15 pounds. Mama is sweet, playful and a true cuddle bug! She is crate trained and when it is time to go in her crate she gets right in because she knows she's getting a treat! Like many dachshunds she can be a bit stubborn when it comes to leash walking. She doesn't like to go far but loves to sniff all the new smells! Mama is 99% house trained but%A0will have an%A0occasional potty accident when she hasn't spent enough time outside. Like all dachshunds she will need to be confident in her environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so ... (Read More)understanding and patience is important. She does not bark or go to door to be let out so it is important her new family helps her become in the habit of going outside every 2 hours or so. Mama does well with children of all ages and small dogs. Mama seems a bit uncomfortable with large dogs getting too close to her so she would do best in a home with dogs close to her own size. Mama has not been cat tested, however, her foster mom believes that doesn't have a high prey drive and this would likely mean she would do well with a kitty. Like most seniors she gets an A+ in sleeping. When she's not taking a snooze she enjoys chasing after squeaky toys and chewing on%A0elk horns and being a happy girl in her foster home in Maryland. Mama doesn't seem once particularly submissive or dominate but has let %A0her foster fursister know she doesn't want to play by barking at her. Like many dachshunds she is pretty independent but will occasionally cuddle with her fursister.%A0 Mama loves to be covered in blankets and sleeping in the big bed. She would love a forever home where she can continue with her big bed privileges. She does very well on car rides and would make a great travel buddy!%A0 Mama came to GetALong Dachshund Rescue with dry eyes and/or allergies. She has been taking medication which %A0helps with her runny eyes and itching. She has a slight thyroid problem and takes a small dose of medication daily. Mama is a charming lady and is looking for someone special to love. Apply to adopt Mama today! (Less)

Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 19 lbs Height: Est 14' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Zoey would love any home where she is offered love and somewhere to lay her head at night. This girl is not hard to please! What is my personality like? I already knew Zoey was a sweet and loving girl, but she pleasantly surprised me. She walks great on leash, couldn't ask for any better! She got along great with Bobby Grey (the cat), ... (Read More)they even started to play together a little. She is one big love bug that is seeking someone to be the center of her universe. She gets along fine with all dogs and has such a wonderful disposition about her. She knows how to sit on command and actually likes to chase after tennis balls. It's very endearing seeing her enjoy her time outside of her cottage. She's low key and doesn't require too much, she would just be happy to be in a loving home and have that happy ever after. How do I act when I first meet new people? Sweet- loves people! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 5/24/2009 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. (Less)

Animal ID: 201611-71Annabelle (female)

Dachshund    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hey there! My name is Annabelle. I am a spunky, older lady. I am about 12 years old and I weigh 14 pounds but I have plenty of energy and spunk left! I mean, heck, I was found and taken in by a vet's office because I was out playing in traffic even though my back legs didn't work! It's all good now though. They took me into the office and I hadn't been hit by a car or anything. Even without full leg function I was too spry for that! I just had a little bout of IVDD like a lot of my Dachshund friends. With some time and care I was back up and running in no time. You might still notice a little hitch in my step, but I get around just fine. I ... (Read More)do need to live somewhere I don't have to deal with stairs though. I should never jump on or off of furniture either. That would really help me a lot! It would be better if I wasn't in a home with small children either. Oh, I also don't have any teeth. Jealous? Doesn't slow my eating down any, I promise you that! My foster family wets my kibble to make it easier for me to eat. Man do I have them trained'| Teeth or no teeth one of my favorite things to do is chew on this deer antler at my foster family's house. Feels great! I don't mind if you humans take my antler (or my food) but I do NOT like my foster brothers and sisters to try it. IT'S MINE! I don't care if I have teeth or not my little rambunctious foster brother'| I shall challenge you to a duel! Of course, this means I do fine with other dogs, but I do have to be watched if there's food or treats or a dog bed I really like laying around. I will claim them and I'll let all the other dogs know! I do GRRRR sometimes at my foster kitty sibling but she walks off and ignores silly me. Yeah I can be a little dominant, especially with other dominant ladies, but I do like the boys, unless they're trying to take my food. Just sayin' that's off limits fellas. I would like home where there are boy doggies or a girl who isn't bossy like I am. I am getting better at letting my foster family know when I need to go outside. Like all dachshunds I need to be confident in my home to have good potty habits. All us rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so please be understanding and patient with me? I am great in my crate. I love my crate! Again, I have this family so wrapped around my finger. I have my own orthopaedic bed in my crate, with some blankets. It's no wonder I don't want anyone else to go in there! I do like sleeping in the big bed of course, but I do just fine in my own space as long as I know where my family is! I am quite happy that way. I love to just hang out on my dog bed under a blanket while you watch TV. Well, unless you're having pizza. If I smell pizza it's like I can't help myself. I'm going to ask you for some of it. I am going to bounce around, whine, scratch at your leg, and generally do what it takes to get some of the yummy stuff! Anyway, I'm happy to hang out with my foster family for a while. They're pretty cool, but I would love a place of my own. Interested in hooking an old lady up? I promise I'm entertaining! Love Annabelle Annabelle absolutely a sweetheart. She loves people and she's a little clown. She shows off when new people come over. Loves to roll on her back on the carpet while grunting at everyone. This wonderful girl is just waiting for a chance for a forever home in her foster home in North Carolina. Is she the one for you ? Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 07/16/2016 Reason for being in rescue: owner release to a northeast Georgia shelter/owners lost home Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Coco is very lightly heartworm positive -he will be sent home with one year's of heartworm preventative (called the slow kill method) Weight: about 18 lbs Height: about 12' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? no What kind of home would be best for me? Coco would do best in a home with an experienced adopter who will assert their role as leader of the pack. Otherwise, Coco will gladly take over as head of the household. What is my ... (Read More)personality like? Coco has a very confident and dominant type personality. He is headstrong and he definitely has a stubborn streak. He likes to do whatever he wants and he can give a little attitude if you are trying to make him do something he doesn't want to do. Coco is an energetic dog and he absolutely loves playtime. His favorite thing to do is to rip the stuffing out of his toys. How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly but also cautious. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Reportedly 4 years old so estimated birthdate is 6/25/2012 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.
