Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, my name is Frankie. I am a 7 mos. old male dachshund mix. I weigh 24 lbs. according to my last vet visit where I received all my shots, and was neutered at that time. My foster mom tells me I am a good boy with a lot of personality and charm, and have come a long way in my potty training since being here. I love to go on walks/hikes (and watching the birds fly by), and enjoy riding in the car. I love meeting new people but will bark at them until I get to know them, and will make friends rather easy. I love my fur-sisters but don't know if I would be good with cats since I have never met one yet. So, if you are looking for a companion ... (Read More)to take on walks, or rides - I just might be the guy you are looking to adopt... please visit www.sophiasgracefoundation.org for an application. Thanks for reading about me. Love, Frankie (Less)

Dachshund    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Brenna and Finley were found wandering the streets together. We're certain these little, senior citizen dachshunds didn't take off on a great escape adventure on their own. For whatever,to us, incomprehensible reason, they were dumped. They were taken to a low adoption shelter in WV and nobody came forward to claim them. We were able to pull them to our rescue. She is is great with other dogs and was fine with the cats we introduced to her. Brenna has no trouble getting around despite being mostly blind from ... (Read More)cataracts. She seems to sniff and map out new places very quickly. Brenna also gets a 'helping paw' from her companion, Finley, who acts as her seeing eye dog. Mellow, loving and easy-going, Brenna will be a loving, loyal friend in her golden years. Brenna's cute companion is Finley, a senior, smooth coated dachshund. Everybody who meets Finley falls in love with him. He's open and trusting and loves spending time on a human lap. Finley also does great with other dogs and cats. He walks well on leash, but does not require lots of exercise. Finley does have some age-related cataracts and a few benign fatty tumors, but one look at his still jaunty walk or into his soulful eyes and you can see how much life and love he still has to give. We can only imagine what Brenna and Finley endured out on the streets, separated from whatever home and family they had known. We only know that they did endure and they endured together. And we want to be sure it stays that way. Brenna and Finley give each other comfort, confidence and consolation; we're seeking a home and heart with room for two. We want their future to be so much brighter than their recent past and we want them to share it together. (Less)

Dachshund    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Daisy May and Rudy! Both are sweet as can be, settled in, and are showing their amazingly awesome colors now that they are out of their former home where they didn't get along with a pair of 18 month old twins (who would?). Daisy is 10, and very spry! She runs with the pack in her foster home like she is 3 and is equally playful. Very loving and interactive once she gets to know you, and very, very smart! Rudy is 7 and like many older doxies, needs a diet. Once we got him all cleaned up and bathed he is like a new dog! Frisky, playful, loving and clownish! Stubborn as a mule, but that's our breed. Rudy does have some food guarding ... (Read More)issues but that's easy to fix just by feeding him separately. Both are housebroken. They are available for adoption through Sophia's Grace Foundation, and must go as a pair since they have lived together their whole lives. Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Low Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Tux, brother to Gypsy and the gemstone puppies, is a very handsome boy at 9 months old. Because he wasn't human socialized, he is a bit wary with humans but absolutely loves other dogs. He is fine with his foster Dad, but not foster Mom... Coming from the same situation as Gypsy, he is VERY dog friendly, just cautious around humans. A meet and greet with dogs and humans is a must. Patience is also needed to bring this poor pup to his full potential and let him feel safe enough to know that his forever home is forever. Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Low Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our Gypsy is a 3 year old, older sibling of Tux as well as the gemstone babies. The family that surrendered these dogs kept them in rather a horrid conditions.... they are not readily socialized with humans, just other dogs. The family refused to spay or neuter and just brought puppies to the shelter every year. Red Rock Rescue agreed to take the pupies and the older siblings, Gypsy and Tux.... the parents are still with the family and unfortunately they cannot be forced to give them up but they did agree to allow rescue to spay and neuter the parents. SOOOOOOOO, long story short, our Gypsy is a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix (although looking at ... (Read More)her brother, Tux, there must be something else in there somewhere!!) Gypsy is a bit shy at first but warms up once she gets to know you, then loves to give kisses and have her head scratched! She is learning house training, walks well on a leash, and is looking for that forever home she so deserves. Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This handsome blonde long hair boy is Toby, 11 years, 14 pounds. The only owner Toby has known is 94 years old and no longer able to care for him. Toby was very devoted to his person but has adjusted in rescue after a fairly short time, is now fond of his foster parents. Toby has a complex doxie personality. He's a great boy 95 per cent of the time -- happy, easy going, enjoys pets, cuddling on the sofa with his foster dad and the other dogs. However, Toby is a resource guarder with a thing for paper products. Talk about complex! If Toby claims a dropped napkin or similar, he will protect it to the point of snapping. If not ... (Read More)challenged, he'll leave it alone in a short time, perhaps in more than one piece. Toby needs a doxie savvy owner with no other pets -- or perhaps one mild-mannered dog -- who'd enjoy having a doxie companion to hang out with, take walks and naps, would be best for Toby. He'd really like a chance to have his own home again.
