Rescue Me ID: 18-05-15-00169Emmett (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Introducing Emmett! Emmett is a dachshund mix who has the biggest heart ever. Emmett loves other dogs, is not cat tested, but would likely do great with any animal or person because he is so easygoing. Emmett is approximately 4 years old and weighs 25 lbs. He loves belly rubs, cuddling on the couch, and getting treats. Emmett is a special needs fellow and did not have a very good start in life. we don;t know his whole story, but he was surrendered to a rural VA shelter as a 'stray' and he was in very bad condition. After some tests which weren't completely conclusive, it was determined that he has an autoimmune disease similar to ... (Read More)Lupus that causes inflammation in Emmett's joints and skin problems. He has some spots on his face and ears where he has no hair, and it will likely never grow back. The skin on his ears is very thick and will sometimes become sore. He also has some deformity in his feet that causes him some difficulty walking and navigating stairs. Emmett is currently not on any medications, but may sometimes need pain medication or laser treatments to help to reduce the inflammation in his feet. What Emmett lacks in good looks, he makes up for tenfold in sweetness and loyalty. While Emmett, can't go for walks, he would love to ride around in a wagon or stroller and he enjoys rides in the car. Emmett also loves to play and explore in the yard. Emmett also loves kids, so he would enjoy a family with considerate children who are careful of his ears and feet. If you would like to give Emmett his happily-ever-after, fill out an adoption application, and make him the winner of the forever family jackpot! Emmett is being fostered in Smithfield, VA. Please go to our website to fill out an application for this sweet boy. www.sophiasgracefoundation.org (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-05-10-00238Cassie (female)

Dachshund    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello! My name is Cassiopeia, but my friends call me Cassie. I am a very special girl according to my foster mom. She says that because I had a very high fever a while back, that now I get a little confused and sometimes wander around aimlessly and lose my balance. I can also get confused about where to potty, so I have to be kept on a very strict schedule so I don't make messes in the house. My balance problems don't keep me from enjoying life. I know my name, and come when I am called. I have learned how to go outside through the door at my foster home all by myself, and I enjoy doing my roomba imitation around the yard. Some of ... (Read More)my favorite things are getting petted, chasing you in the yard when you run, and nibbling on your toes if you don't pay attention to me. I also love green beans for a snack before bed and soft blankets in my crate. I don't like to be brushed or groomed, and I don't like to be held too tightly or for too long. Because of my special needs, a home without children under 10 would be best, and I need a family who will understand if I have accidents sometimes. I really do try to make sure to do my business outside, but I occasionally forget where I am. Foster mom is trying diapers on me to see if they will help me when I get confused about not being outside. If you think that I could be your very special girl, and you have lots of love and affection to share with me, I would love to become a part of your family. All you have to do to bring me home with you is to fill out an adoption application for 'Cassie'. I am anxiously awaiting my very own family to love and who will cherish me and my special ways. I am being fostered in Smithfield, VA. Please go to our website and fill out an adoption application for me. www.sophiasgracefoundation.org (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-03-14-00221Bentley (male)

Dachshund    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Bentley! Bentley is a handsome 8 year old boy fostering in Central NJ. Bentley came from a home where it was likely that he was not treated well. After getting the veterinary care and love that he needed, Bentley's big dachshund personality blossomed. Bentley is neutered, up-to-date with his vaccinations, and heartworm negative. Now that he's had a much needed dental surgery and treatment for a dental abscess, Bentley is ready for his forever family. Bentley can be grumbly when he is overwhelmed or irritated (like when he doesn't want to be disturbed by the other dogs while snuggled with his foster Dad). He doesn't like to share ... (Read More)his toys, but his foster siblings don't challenge him on that. Bentley is fostered in a home with six other dogs (small to medium-sized) and would be fine as an only dog or in home with other dogs. He should not be placed in a home with young children. If you are not in NJ, transportation arrangements can be made for the right home. If you would like to fill out an application for this gorgeous boy please fill out an application on our website www.sophiasgracefoundation.org (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-03-04-00055Balloo (male)

Dachshund    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Health: Neutered

What a sweet boy! Balloo lived with his weenie brother Dougie in Virginia. Dougie had 3 back surgeries which I'm sure was expensive and very hard on their mom. When Balloo's back issue began and he was in pain and couldn't walk they were turned over to our Sophia's Grace. They were both transported to Ohio to be fostered and Balloo could start therapy to 'be all that he can be'!Balloo is an Isabella and tan. First time I've ever seen that combination. He's gorgeous with very expressive eyes. He loves to cuddle and sleeps in the big bed, under the covers. Eats like a gentleman and takes treats very softly from your hand. He doesn't ... (Read More)appreciate other dogs getting right up in his face but will only growl to let them know. He loves to sit on the couch with you and he goes under a blanket. It's pretty funny to watch him burrow as the other dogs watch the blanket moving. Balloo is a standard so he's pretty long! He could stand to gain some weight and we're working on that. He's happy to eat whatever I give him. This guy needs to be expressed to prevent a UTI so someone will need to be home or only work part time. He has a 'drag bag' to get around without making boo boo's on his legs and wears a belly band while in it in case he leaks. If he's expressed on a regular basis, every few hours, he's %81ne. Sleeps thru the night with no accidents. Balloo needs a cart to get around like the others so he can 'run' around the yard. Hopefully we can get one for him before he %81nds a home. He's doing water treadmill therapy right now and will be %81nished in the middle of March. All of his vetting is complete also.PS . . . he's okay with cats!If you're interested in this handsome gentleman let his foster mama know! He's currently in NE Ohio but can be transported within reason.Mama - phlmt@me.com (Less)
