Florence is a sweet little pug mix dumped at a shelter. Poor Florence was thought to be just an overfed girl but when the overworked shelter's vet when to spay her, they found she was pregnant and had a large hernia as well. The hernia was repaired but sadly her puppies were aborted. Then on top of that, the vet determined Florence was heartworm positive as well. All this is behind her now as she finally has recovered from her surgery and heartworm treatments. Florence is now healthy and ready to move on to a happier part of her life. They came to us when their daddy passed away suddenly and they had no where to go. They are very sweet but a little shy. They warm up quickly especially if you have a treat for them! They are a little overweight so we have them on a strict diet. They love to lounge and would make great companions for someone looking for two lazy lap dogs. Dachshund Dogs can make good pets in New Jersey if they match your IifestyIe. The Dachshund is a long, short-legged dog with a temperament similar to that of a terrier. Dachshunds are cheeky, playful, mischievous, and resistant to training or discipline. Dachshunds do well with older children. Dachshunds are well suited to apartment life but need exercise, and it is important that they not be overfed as this breed is prone to weight gain.
