She's learning to walk on a leash, but will need a securely fenced yard to run off some of that puppy energy. Hannah will do best in a home with an active family that has time to exercise and play with her. After all the running and playing, Hannah likes to cuddle up with you and fall asleep in your lap.Hannah enjoys being around other ...     Herbie is an active little 1 year old doxie-poo (dachshund poodle mix) that was recently released from a commercial breeding facility. He is a tiny little guy, weighing in at just 5 lbs, but what he lacks in size, he makes up for in personality. Herbie is a very busy boy that will keep you on your toes with lots of puppy energy, but he's also quite a little love that enjoys attention and snuggling. He enjoys spending time with other small dogs and will need a canine companion to keep him company and to play with. Herbie is picking up on potty training, but it is a work in progress. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-18-00333Claus (male)

Dachshund    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, my name is Claus and I am a six year old male smooth Dachshund. I'm black and tan with a cool white racing stripe on my chest. I came to Wag N Train in mid-February when I was laid off by a breeder. I was in pretty rough shape at the time with bad teeth, bad skin and I was way too skinny. I lost most of my teeth during my dental but that doesn't affect me much, just gives me a silly grin. I can still eat just fine and I have gained almost two pounds! Everyone thinks I look great! I've learned to walk on a leash pretty well and am housebroken. My foster Dad says I'm going to make someone really lucky since I'm such a great catch! I ... (Read More)live with two big dogs, another dachshund, and a cat and we all generally get along, even though I prefer my dachshund foster sister. We hang out together a lot. I follow my foster dad everywhere and am a lover. I love a good lap to nap in, cuddling and giving lots of kisses. I also enjoy running around the house and yard and barking at my bigger housemates and the neighbor dogs. My foster dad tells me I'm a clown because I make him laugh a lot. I am a little standoffish around people that I don't know and I shy away from children but that is mainly because they are new and I'm not used to them. (Kids make me kind of nervous.) But once I warm up to you, get ready for the kisses! I will need a securely fenced yard and a resident dog to keep me company and show me the ropes. Suggested adoption donation for Claus is $250 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-18-00320Heidi (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Heidi is a petite, energetic, 8 year old smooth chiweenie. She's so happy that she has retired from the breeding industry! She hasn't had an easy life and her little body shows it, but Heidi is on her way to a new, happy, healthy life. Heidi can be shy at first, but is quickly learning to trust people. She likes to get cuddles, give kisses (but watch out, she's a little French in the kissing department!) and play with squeaky toys. While Heidi does get along with other small dogs, she would prefer to be an only dog so she doesn't have to share attention or toys. (She really loves squeaky toys!) But Heidi would also be good with another ... (Read More)small submissive dog that would let her be the boss. (She may be small, but she's feisty!) Heidi is figuring out potty training and is doing well with kennel training. She will need a home with a securely fenced yard and no children under the age of 10. Suggested adoption donation for Heidi is $200 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs. lnteresting Dachshund Trivia Low-Cost Nebraska Spay & Neuter Clinics
Dachshunds are good travel companions. Dachshunds are named for Dachs, the German term for Badger, which these dogs were bred to hunt. The short legs of a Dachshund are well suited for digging and getting inside badger burrows. Dachshunds are often referred to as wiener dogs because of their shape. Queen Victoria was fond of Dachshunds.
