Rescue Me ID: 17-09-29-00332Doc (male)
Meet Doc! Can this guy be any cuter?! Doc came to Revolution Rescue from a shelter in KS where he was at risk of being euthanized. He is a Dachshund mix, just over a year old, and is a sturdy 20 pounds. In his stay with his foster family, they have discovered that Doc must not have had a lot of things to call his own in his previous life, because he sure likes to guard the things he has now! This is very challenging at times but his fosters are dedicated to helping him overcome his fear of loss. For this reason, Doc would be best in a home with those who will continue his training to be sure he stays on the right path. Even though he can be strong willed, he is super playful & is high energy--he runs laps around his foster fur-siblings in the back yard and he does well playing with kids, too! He is also very smart and has learned several commands in just a few short weeks! Doc is not fond of the kennel but does well being gated in his own space. He is house trained, neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. If interested in meeting him, please fill out an application at www.revolutionrescue.comand we will be in touch! Adoption fee is $225.00. and we will be in touch! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-08-18-00293Cruz (male)
This sweet boy is Cruz. Cruz came with his sister from St. Croix. They were street dogs, knew very little kindness, and actually watched their sister be hit and killed by a vehicle. We agreed to take them however due to luck and weather restrictions they arrived months before we were expecting them. They were in boarding for a bit and then arrived to us in Sidney. They went to 2 temp fosters who were both awesome! When one went to Kearney she took them as both had foster offers in Kearney. Cruz's foster wasn't fit and ended up dropping him off at the vets office and leaving without our permission. While we are glad that he's safe as his foster wasn't obviously a safe option, he needs a committed loving adopter!!! He is fully vetted (yes this means he's neutered). He is dog friendly but doesn't like rambunctious puppies in his face. He's done pretty well on house training and crate training. He charmed all the vet staff who can't stop singing his praises. He's a shorter guy medium sized, maybe some kind of Dachshund, Lab, Shepherd mix? Whatever he is he's adorable and charismatic and will absolutely bring personality, levity and laughs to any home that gives him a chance. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-18-00333Claus (male)
Hi, my name is Claus and I am a six year old male smooth Dachshund. I'm black and tan with a cool white racing stripe on my chest. I came to Wag N Train in mid-February when I was laid off by a breeder. I was in pretty rough shape at the time with bad teeth, bad skin and I was way too skinny. I lost most of my teeth during my dental but that doesn't affect me much, just gives me a silly grin. I can still eat just fine and I have gained almost two pounds! Everyone thinks I look great! I've learned to walk on a leash pretty well and am housebroken. My foster Dad says I'm going to make someone really lucky since I'm such a great catch! I live with two big dogs, another dachshund, and a cat and we all generally get along, even though I prefer my dachshund foster sister. We hang out together a lot. I follow my foster dad everywhere and am a lover. I love a good lap to nap in, cuddling and giving lots of kisses. I also enjoy running around the house and yard and barking at my bigger housemates and the neighbor dogs. My foster dad tells me I'm a clown because I make him laugh a lot. I am a little standoffish around people that I don't know and I shy away from children but that is mainly because they are new and I'm not used to them. (Kids make me kind of nervous.) But once I warm up to you, get ready for the kisses! I will need a securely fenced yard and a resident dog to keep me company and show me the ropes. Suggested adoption donation for Claus is $250 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs. Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts only to people living in states neighboring Nebraska and requires the adopter to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not transport or fly our rescue dogs. A securely fenced yard is necessary to adopt one of our terriers. Please note: invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment for terriers. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dachshund in Nebraska
Dachshund Dogs can make good pets in Nebraska if they match your IifestyIe. The Dachshund is a long, short-legged dog with a temperament similar to that of a terrier. Dachshunds are cheeky, playful, mischievous, and resistant to training or discipline. Dachshunds do well with older children. Dachshunds are well suited to apartment life but need exercise, and it is important that they not be overfed as this breed is prone to weight gain.
