Rescue Me ID: 16-05-29-00190Will (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I'm 2 years old and weigh 10 pounds. I'm a little shy when I first meet a human for the first time but it doesn't take me long to warm up and when I do, I'm your shadow! I'm an affectionate boy who when you pick me up I melt into you, that's how much I love you. When you come home I will squeal like a little piggy and do a little dance, that's how happy I am to see you. When you take me for a ride in the car, I will sit like a good boy and look out the window. When we go for a walk I will walk beside you and every now and then look up at you and smile. That's how much I enjoy being with you. I get along with other canines and felines; ... (Read More)however, I'd much rather be your companion. I'm good in the house and do my business outside. If you're looking for a devoted, loving partner look no more, I'm your guy. Please visit the rescue's website to submit an adoption application on me. You can also email foreverhome4dogs@aol.com for further questions. Hope to snuggle with you soon, love Will. (Less)

Dachshund    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Mack is a tiny little guy weighing in at 6lbs. He is friendly once he gets to know you. It will take a good few days for that to happen. Once he does he is very social and sweet. He would not be good in a home with children because he can get a little scared with activity. Will need a home where the family can be patient with him to get comfortable with them.

Rescue Me ID: 16-01-21-00476Cooper (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Cooper is a super sweet boy. He is great with other animals (he does love to terrorize the cat, but is in no way mean to him), and humans. He loves to play outside. Cooper was found about 2.5 years ago, as a puppy. Vet said he is mixed with something but was probably passed off as purebred. While he has no major health issues, he does have extremely dry skin and needs bathing frequently. He scratches constantly and often has an oder. We have had him on medicine that seems to help temporarily. Vet says it could be hormonal and that having him fixed could be the answer. I have an 8 year old doxie that I've had since he was 9 weeks old. ... (Read More)He has recently started disliking sharing his people and space. My husband has asked me to re-home Cooper, since we've had the other baby for so long, and since Cooper would make a great baby for someone. He is crate trained, house broken (will have accident if left out overnight or for long periods of time). He is playful and loves his toys. While I've been in no real hurry to get rid of him, my husband has now reached the point that if he doesn't find a home, he is taking him to the humans society. Since my older Doxie is really being mean to him and I'm having to keep one or the other crated at all times. I will not just let him go to anyone. I will require a home inspection. If you are not familiar with doxie breed, then there is no need to reply to this add. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-06-05-00031EJ (Emma Jean) (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive,
 Abused/Neglected

EJ or Emma Jean will be ready for adoption soon. We are still waiting for her to test negative before we can repair her cherry eye. In the meantime if you are local south MS area you can foster her until that time. BUT in the time we have had her she has developed Diabetes. Finding her a home because of this is going to be hard. So with that being said we are looking for a home with someone who understands the disease. She will need her blood checked twice a day as well as insulin shots twice a day. Both at the same time. Whoever applies MUST be able to do this and keep her on strict schedule. Her food is prescription for diabetic dogs so ... (Read More)it is more costly than other foods. You would also need to make sure she did not get ANY other food human or other pets. EJ is prob around 7 years old. It is hard to tell because of the condition she was in when we got her. She has cataracts which makes her seem older but that could be from the poor nutrition she was fed before coming to TDR. Her activity level is medium. She loves to follow you around and snuggle in bed. She is kissy and sweet and will cry everytime you come home. You will never feel more loved than by EJ. It does take a while for her to trust you but after a week or so she will be your shadow. Takes to women faster than men but will eventually trust them if they are patient with her. She is really good on potty training IF you bring her outside every few hours or so to potty. She is ok with other dogs but would prefer to be an only child. She will get growly with some if they come close to mom in bed. We are looking for a home which has low activity. EJ would not do well in a home with kids or people in and out because of her being so skittish. She has started to play a little and chew on her nylabones so progress is being made every day. Just watching her prance through the yard will make you smile. This girl is truly something special and deserves ONLY the best home. If you are caring and familiar with working with diabetic people or dogs and feel you would be a good fit please fill out an application at www.tireddogrescue.com Her fee will help cover the costs of the maggot removal, overnight emergency stays, vaccines, heartworm treatment, spay and cherry eye removal.     Dachshund Dogs can make good pets in Mississippi if they match your IifestyIe. The Dachshund is a long, short-legged dog with a temperament similar to that of a terrier. Dachshunds are cheeky, playful, mischievous, and resistant to training or discipline. Dachshunds do well with older children. Dachshunds are well suited to apartment life but need exercise, and it is important that they not be overfed as this breed is prone to weight gain.
