|Rescue Me ID: 16-12-30-00536Barney (male)|
7 yo black and white piebald dachshund Weight: 22lbs Good health. Up to date on shots. Recent vet records Bio: Barney has been in the same home his whole life however, in the last year Barney has been not happy in a pack of 6 dachshunds. Barney would do better as an only dog or with a bottom rung submissive dog, as Barney is very submissive himself. Barney is a complete clown, silly and loves to play. He loves to play ball and could play all day but can also snuggle with you while watching tv. Barney had a fatty tumor removed and sometimes it is sensitive when you pick him up, he does like to be picked up though and cuddled once he has gotten to know and trust you. Barney likes to go for walks and ride in the car, although he prefers a car seat in the back if possible. He is afraid of big dogs but can adjust if done very slowly. Barney will need a fenced in yard, he does not challenge a fence or dig. Barney can never be off leash. Barney is a fun dog and deserves to be the center of someone's life. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 16-12-20-00059Jake (male)|
Jake is a 5 year old dachshund-chihuahua mix. He is a sweet boy but can be very shy so we are looking for a quiet home for him. He does do well with other respectful dogs and a companion might be nice for him, but not necessary. He had some teeth issues and our veterinarian got those all resolved and he is feeling so much better with his pearly whites! He also came to us very overweight (by about 10-12 lbs), and has been on a strict diet to help him shed some of those extra pounds - a new adopter would need to be able to help Jake continue on his path to great health by keeping him on a diet until he hits his ideal weight. Once Jake gets to know you he is a sweet boy who will love nothing more than to cuddle with you and keep you company on those cold winter nights! Adoption fee is $400, which includes spay/neuter, microchip, USDA transport, vaccines, health certificate and Massachusetts mandatory animal quarantine. If you'd like to apply for Jake or any of our other dogs, please fill out our adoption application here: http://www.yellowroserescue.org/adoption-application If you have any questions about fostering or adopting a dog please contact Yellow Rose Animal Rescue directly at email@example.com. |Rescue Me ID: 16-01-15-00104Honey-Bunny (female)|
Name: Honey-Bunny Age: 9 years Breed: Doxy/Terrier Weight: 45 lbs Good with: dogs. Not tested with kids/cats My name is Honey-Bunny and I am a 9 year old Doxy/Terrier mix. Up until now I haven't had the greatest life and I am learning how a dog is supposed to live- happy and safe. My body tells the story of an uncertain past. I have scars all over me, and if you move to fast I run. I like getting pets, but my first instinct tells me to flinch. I am learning more everyday that I am safe and I am happier a little more everyday. I am learning the ins and outs of living inside a home and I am house and crate trained. I LOVE the company of other dogs and follow their lead. I am very treat motivated!! Although I flinch a lot, I have not once growled or shown any aggression to my humans or canine residents. My foster mom says I'm the easiest dog she's ever had and integrated well with the resident dogs. I'm so quiet and nap a lot that you hardly know I am here! I am now accepting applications for my forever home! I'm an old lady and would love a low key home who will give me lots of love (and treats!) for the rest of my life! If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application at http://www.survivortails.org/adopt.html or email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions We can only adopt in the states of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. ***Please note we are constantly processing applications and any animal on this page may have a current pending application. We encourage you to submit an application as the availability status of our animals can change at any time*** (Less)

|PIease Read Before Adopting a Dachshund in Massachusetts|
Dachshund Dogs can make good pets in Massachusetts if they match your IifestyIe. The Dachshund is a long, short-legged dog with a temperament similar to that of a terrier. Dachshunds are cheeky, playful, mischievous, and resistant to training or discipline. Dachshunds do well with older children. Dachshunds are well suited to apartment life but need exercise, and it is important that they not be overfed as this breed is prone to weight gain.
