Rescue Me ID: 15-03-25-00656Sandy and Angie (female)

Dachshund    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] We have two mini dachshunds that are 10 years old and had them since they were puppies. Sandy and Angie are sisters from the same litter. They are sweet dogs that like to sit on your lap or next to you, they love being under blankets and sleeping in our bed. They are very good with our daughter and love her very much but are a little scared of other small children. They get along well with older children and adults. We are moving across the country and will not be able to take them with us, it breaks my heart to not be able to take them but I need to find them a good home. Sandy does have seizures but has been ... (Read More)on medication for a long time and they are very well controlled and she has not had one in years. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-08-00409Andy (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Andy is an adorable & loving 16lb little ball of fun! She is 5-6 year old Dachshund/Jack Russell Terrier mix looking for her forever home. Andy is very playful and will surprise you with her endless energy for walks and play. Her favorite toy is a tug of war rope meant for a 60lb dog, not a munchkin like her. Andy settles down very easily and will curl up next to you on the couch or on your lap. She is both crate and housetrained, and will wait by the door when she needs to be let out. Though initially weary of new people, Andy warmed up quickly to her foster parents. Meeting new people in her foster home has been a challenge for ... (Read More)Andy as she thinks of new people as 'intruders.' Andy's foster parents are working with her on being more trusting of new people and for this reason we think a home without small children would be best. Andy is still new to our rescue, and we are unsure of her compatibility with dogs and cats. We will update when we get to know Andy better. If you are interested in finding out more about Andy, please fill out an application on our website by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: http://www.brokentailrescue.org/adoption-application/ Andy is being fostered in Medford and the adoption fee is $350. Rescue Me ID: 14-12-23-00083Jacob (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I'm Jacob - and I am brand-spanking new to Broken Tail Rescue! I was found as a stray and never reunited with my mom and dad, and now I'm looking for a new family! I'm still getting used to my foster home, so I haven't told them too much about me yet, but I'm coming out of my shell! I am a slightly tubby little guy at 7 pounds. Our vet says that I am about 9 years old, but I act like a dog half my age! My foster mom thinks I'm part 'lowrider' - maybe my doggie mom or dad was a dachshund? My foster mom says I am the best cuddler around! I very rarely bark, but when I do, mom says that I sound like an elderly smoker. I don't know ... (Read More)what that means, but my bark makes people laugh, which I guess is okay! I am very polite around the other dogs in my foster home and I love my wire crate (especially when it's dinner time!). I also live with a 9 year old little girl in my foster home who is very respectful of me needing space at first, but my foster mom says that I am great with her! The perfect home for me would be a home with or without other dogs, a home with lots of toys for me to play with, and if there are kids, perhaps kids that are 8 years old or older. If you are interested in finding out more about Jacob, please fill out an application on our website by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: http://www.brokentailrescue.org/adoption-application/ Jacob is being fostered in Worcester and the adoption fee is $250. "Like" Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook! NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-11-00596Deacon & Maddie (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Looking for a new home for Deacon and Maddie. They are from the same litter. They are part Basset Hound and part Dachshund. Maybe some beagle too... not sure. They are 6 years old but still very energetic. They love to be on your lap or bed with you. They are extremely affectionate with their family but they are extremely territorial towards visitors. Which makes them great guard dogs. They are house trained and crate trained. Looking for a home with a large fenced in yard for them to run and play in. Deacon (the white one) is a male and Maddie (the tan one) is female. Please contact me with any questions.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dachshund in Massachusetts
Dachshund Dogs can make good pets in Massachusetts if they match your IifestyIe. The Dachshund is a long, short-legged dog with a temperament similar to that of a terrier. Dachshunds are cheeky, playful, mischievous, and resistant to training or discipline. Dachshunds do well with older children. Dachshunds are well suited to apartment life but need exercise, and it is important that they not be overfed as this breed is prone to weight gain.
