Rescue Me ID: 14-10-24-00223CoCo (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Senior

Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Breed: Long-Haired Dachshund Approximate Age: 10 yrs Weight: 24 lbs but on a diet :-) Poor little Coco has had a roller coaster past. Her original owners gave her to friends, then those 'friends' turned her over to a high kill shelter when she was 6. That's when K-9 stepped in and rescued her before she was euthanized. She was adopted shortly after and has now ended up in our care, once again, 4 years later...10 years old and extremely overweight. She is a wonderful little girl. Coco is sweet, gentle, and a great lap dog. She is perfectly content following you around and cuddling up on the couch. She is an easy going dog, good with ... (Read More)kids, good with other dogs, and we suspect good with cats. She cannot handle stairs due to her weight, but Coco is on a strict diet to get her weight back down to an acceptable number (which should be around 10 lbs). Coco clearly likes to go for walks, even tho it's slow going. Can your home be her FINAL home to live out the rest of her life? She's ready and willing to give all the love she has... Coco is a beautiful chocolate doxie. She loves going outside and going for walks. Coco also likes to sleep in bed with you and sleeps thru the night without a sound...except for a little bit of snoring, which should subside once her weight is back under control. She is a great little girl. While Coco is doing great on her housetraining at her foster home, she may need a refresher in her new home until she gets used to the routine. Rescue Me ID: 14-10-23-00651Samson (male)

Dachshund    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind, Deaf

Name & Breed -Samson - Dachshund Age & Weight -3 years - Approx. 13 lbs. Coat -Piebald, fawn/brown and white Foster Mom - Aaron- Pocomoke City, MD E-mail - theflyngorchid@gmail.com Adoption Fee - $200.00 House Trained - Yes Fully Vetted - Yes Samson also known as Sammy is a sweet little boy who will win your heart within minutes. This poor guy was dropped off at a boarding kennel in Alabama and never reclaimed by his owner. Thankfully, DASH was able to come to his rescue and give him a very much deserved second chance at a forever home! Samson was born blind and deaf. He does have limited vision as he can see bright light and the ... (Read More)contrast of shadows. Once he learns the layout of your home, he can navigate it very well, including jumping up and down from furniture. He also has partial hearing in his right ear. Neither of these disabilities slow him down! He is very energetic, loves to play with people and his toys. He seems to prefer a quieter home and we believe that he would fare well as an only dog in the home. Sammy is housetrained, with no accidents! He does very well in a crate, but he can also be trusted with free-roam of the house as long as there is no mischief for him to get into: i.e., trash, crayons, children's toys, shoes, etc. His own toys will keep him occupied while you're gone. Sammy loves to go for walks and rides! He would make the perfect addition to most any loving family. Could that be with you? For additional information about Samson, please send an e-mail inquiry to her foster Mom, Aaron, at theflyingorchid@gmail.com **Please make sure when emailing about one of our dogs you check your spam mail so that our email responses won't get missed.** HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION THROUGH DASHRescue.net AND AN ADOPTION PROCESS IS REQUIRED. A REFERENCE CHECK, VET CHECK AND HOME VISIT WILL BE CONDUCTED BEFORE BEING APPROVED. Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs' cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or use approved ground transport. If shipping by volunteers through our organization or a paid transporter, there is an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required (USDA requirement). THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUE. Rescue Me ID: 14-06-18-00182Louie (male)

Dachshund    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Louie is an eleven year old, miniature, long hair, dappled, black and tan dachshund. He likes to be a companion and plays a little with stuffed animals. The best home for him would be with an older person/couple, no kids, no steps, no other pets. I need to find him a new home because he no longer gets along with one of my two pits. When I first got him he was 8 years old. I had an older Bassett mix and they did not associate with each other but got along, both low energy and not into playing with other dogs. When the Bassett died, two pits in need of homes came into the house. They all got along. but little Louie had two stay out of the ... (Read More)way of the younger one, who was, and is, very energetic. Recently, the younger pit will not tolerate Louie, some of it is because of Louie's food aggression. He and Louie cannot be together. Louie is now kept in a bedroom and taken out separately. He likes to roam in his walks. A fenced yard would be best or someone that will take him out and be with him a lot. He will go to the bathroom in the house if not left out a lot. He does go on pee pads, but not always. I do not put a collar on him. He walks beside me in his strolls, which are not very long. He is chipped. He needs to be in a quiet house, with no, or limited, steps. As he is a miniature, he has issues getting up and down steps. He should not be around children. He is food aggressive. He has kidney disease and is on KD diet. He has a skin condition which is causing him to lose his hair. Was tested for thyroid disease and that was negative. It does not bother him. Heartworm negative. His eyesight is deteriorating. The doctor said he could have a cataract operation if it gets bad enough. Most of the time he sleeps in one of his two dog beds. He used to sleep on the bed before the other dogs came. He likes to take car rides and travels well. He is a sweet little dog who needs to be a part of a family. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-05-17-00403Lacy (female)

Dachshund    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Name & Breed - Lacy / Dachshund Foster Mom - Rachel - Pocomoke, MD E-mail -ocunicorn@yahoo.com Age & Weight - 6 yrs / 10 lbs Coat - Long Hair Red Sable Adoption Fee - $250.00 House Trained - Bladder Control Issues due to back injury Lacy is a sweet girl who will have you wrapped around her little paw the minute you meet her. She has a nickname 'Whoo Whoo' because that's the sound she makes when she hops around to get your attention. She is a very quiet girl, who will bark occasionally when someone is in the yard. Lacy has the most adorable face that matches her personality. She is very sweet and gets along great with her foster brothers ... (Read More)and sisters. She does well meeting new friends and is very engaged in what you are doing. Lacy has had back surgery in the past, and has a stiff back-end gate now. She can traverse a few steps on her own, and does very well up and down the doggie door ramp. She cannot jump on furniture or stand on her back legs. Actually, that's good news, as it prevents more back injury, and she won't be snoozing on the couch all day! Lacy has been undergoing acupuncture treatments to help loosen up her back leg muscles and tighten up her bladder. She is doing very well with both, and would do well in the future to have periodic 'tune-ups' if needed. Lacy does have a small bladder control issue due to the back injury. Since she tends to be a bit submissive, she also may have a bit of a piddle when first meeting someone or when she gets over excited. If you are looking for a new friend to help you watch the latest movies and be your new snugglebug, Lacy is your girl! HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION THROUGH DASHRescue.net AND AN ADOPTION PROCESS IS REQUIRED. REFERENCE CHECK, VET CHECK AND A HOME VISIT WILL BE CONDUCTED BEFORE BEING APPROVED. Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. lnteresting Dachshund Trivia Low-Cost Maryland Spay & Neuter Clinics
