|Rescue Me ID: 15-03-05-00569Smudge (male)|
Smudge is a sweet that arrived to rescue here in Maryland from Alabama. This sweet boy is a lovebug and would be wonderful for someone looking for a small lapdog. Smudge is a 3 year old chiweenie. He is completely vetted, neutered, and is microchipped. He is crate trained (and his crate will accompany him) and housebroken. Our adoption information and application can be found at www.celebratingpugs.com - the application needs to be copy/pasted back to the rescue at email@example.com

|Rescue Me ID: 14-06-18-00182Louie (male)|
Louie is an eleven year old, miniature, long hair, dappled, black and tan dachshund. He likes to be a companion and plays a little with stuffed animals. The best home for him would be with an older person/couple, no kids, no steps, no other pets. I need to find him a new home because he no longer gets along with one of my two pits. When I first got him he was 8 years old. I had an older Bassett mix and they did not associate with each other but got along, both low energy and not into playing with other dogs. When the Bassett died, two pits in need of homes came into the house. They all got along. Recently, the younger pit will not tolerate Louie. He and Louie cannot be together. Louie is now kept in a bedroom and taken out separately. He likes to roam in his walks. A fenced yard would be best or someone that will take him out and be with him a lot. He will go to the bathroom in the house if not left out a lot. He does go on pee pads, but not always. I do not put a collar on him. He walks beside me in his strolls, which are not very long. He is chipped. He needs to be in a quiet house, with no, or limited, steps. As he is a miniature, he has issues getting up and down steps. He should not be around children. He is food aggressive. He has kidney disease and is on KD diet. He has a skin condition which has caused him to lose some patches of hair. Was tested for thyroid disease and that was negative. It does not bother him. Heartworm negative. His eyesight is deteriorating. The doctor said he could have a cataract operation if it gets bad enough. Most of the time he sleeps in one of his two dog beds. He used to sleep on the bed before the other dogs came. He likes to take car rides and travels well. He is a sweet little dog who needs to be a part of a family. (Less)

Dachshund Dogs can make good pets in Maryland if they match your IifestyIe. The Dachshund is a long, short-legged dog with a temperament similar to that of a terrier. Dachshunds are cheeky, playful, mischievous, and resistant to training or discipline. Dachshunds do well with older children. Dachshunds are well suited to apartment life but need exercise, and it is important that they not be overfed as this breed is prone to weight gain.
