Rescue Me ID: 17-09-22-00063Cappy (male)

Dachshund    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures,
 Abused/Neglected

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] We adopted Cappy 6 months ago from the Humane Society-a very sweet and loving dog who was previously neglected. He gets along with children, adults and other dogs. He loves to be cuddled and loved. We were told he has seizures and takes daily medication but we have never seen one. He would do best with someone who is home with him as he has anxiety when left alone and messes on the floor. We work all day and we can no longer care for him properly. He loves car rides and sleeps in a crate at night. He would make a loving companion for a person who is home all the time.

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-21-00295PRINNY (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Male Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Prinny was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. She is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 4 April 2017. Prinny has been listed as a Miniature Pinscher / Chihuahua mix, however, she has a sibling who is black with white labelled as a lab mix. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think he breed/s is. 'Prinny is still a puppy and will need a dedicated family that has the time and patience to work and teach her, how she is expected to behave. A family who will not get angry or upset if she chews their shoes or has an ... (Read More)accident inside. She is a baby and although very smart and responsive, she needs to be guided in her mannerisms and behavior and continue to let her beautiful personality develop. Prinny is a sweet, affectionate, playful, high energy fun loving girl. She is great with other dogs and is always chasing and playing rough with them. She plays great with the other pups that are here. She has learnt to be respectful with the other adult dogs and enjoys their company. She is very affectionate and is always jumping up on the sofa to cuddle up to me or be as close as she can. We do not have cats in the rescue so cannot comment on how she would behave around them. She can be shy with new people, but soon warms up. She will be shy and will need to gain confidence when she goes to new places. 'We do not recommend dog parks for several weeks, if not months, it is so very important for families and dogs to form a strong bond and get to know each other before exposing them to the potential dangers of dog parks. Although all GaDaH dogs are very well socialized with other dogs, lots of other dogs have not had the benefit of this socialization and do not always know how to play and act with other dogs. You also do not know the control the other families have over their dogs and you should always have a good recall for your adopted dog before going to dog parks. Prinny does use the dog door to go outside to do her business although she will not know to let you know if he needs to go outside. Prinny is young and high energy and so a family with an active lifestyle is a must. She would benefit from lots of road trips and adventures, hiking, trips to the lake, the beach and anywhere that she can burn off some of her energy and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer. She will need a family that understands the importance of training and we encourage all families to work on basic and advanced training as a family so that boundaries and expectations can be set and both Prinny and her humans can learn each others body language and personalities and form a stronger bond and understanding of each other. She has not had a collar or leash on and so leash training will definitely need to be worked upon. A family that understands her initial caution of people and new places, that will help her develop her confidence and trust. Prinny is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $550. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements. Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org Prinny is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen. (Less)
