Rescue Me ID: 18-05-13-00164IGOR-L (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

IGOR-L was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas, where dogs generally have just 3 days to be saved before they are killed for space. IGOR-L is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, heartworm tested negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 21 April 2016 and weighs around 18.10 pounds. He has been listed as a chihuahua/terrier mix. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, so it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. IGOR-L is a shy, sweet, loving affectionate boy. He is not a needy dog and can entertain himself as much as he loves to be up on your knee getting and giving lots ... (Read More)of love and kisses. He does take a little time to gain some trust but is soon wanting some belly rubs and ear scratches. is great with other dogs of all ages and sizes and has no problem letting the big dogs know that he is no push-over. He loves to run and chase and be chased and enjoys playing with toys also. He is a very good all round small dog. We do not have cats or livestock at the rescue, so we cannot comment on how he would respond or act with or around them. A volunteer brought her young granddaughter over and he was great with her, very loving and wanting to get lots of attention. IGOR-L does use the dog door to go out to do his business or enjoy the fresh air in his run. I do not know if he would let you know he needs to go out since he has 24/7 access to the outside, but he is smart and do not think it would take long to learn. He is going to need a family that is used to small dogs. Someone who understand that he will need training and guidance and learns that humans are in charge so that he doesn't get too much of a handful. A somewhat active family who can give him the lifestyle that she needs. Going on road trips, to new places, hikes and adventures and letting her explore the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer will be to his and your benefit. 'We do not recommend dog parks for several weeks, if not months, it is so very important for families and dogs to form a strong bond and get to know each other before exposing them to the potential dangers of dog parks. Although all GaDaH dogs are very well socialized with other dogs, lots of other dogs have not had the benefit of this socialization and do not always know how to play and act with other dogs. You also do not know the control the other families have over their dogs and you should always have a good recall for your adopted dog before going to dog parks. IGOR-L is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements. Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org IGOR-L is LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-02-09-00370WOODY (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

WOODY was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. He is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 31 October 2017 and has an estimated weight of 9.6 pounds. He has been listed as a Daschshund mix. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think his breed/s is. WOODY was picked up by animal control with Trixie who, when he arrived at the rescue was very bonded with. Since he has gotten older, he has made lots more friends at the rescue and is a very happy social boy. Woody is bursting with energy with a larger than life personality, he ... (Read More)is a happy go lucky boy. He has a smile on his face all the time that is infectious in that your heart can't not smile with him when he looks up at you. Woody has lived in the house with me and my dogs and some other rescue's. He is very well dog socialized and loves to play and wrestle with dogs his own size, but also the big dogs. He loves his toys and squeaky toys are a bonus, he will de-stuff toys if they are easily de-stuffed as most puppies enjoy. He is very affectionate and loves to get cuddles and his belly rubbed and ear scratched.. We do not have cats at the rescue so are unable to say how he would get on with cats. Woody, although a small dog is going to need a family that enjoys an energetic lifestyle. Someone who understand that he will need training and guidance and learns that humans are in charge so boundaries are set. He is going to enjoy an outdoors kind of family who can give him the lifestyle that he needs. Going on road trips, to new places, hikes and adventures and letting him explore the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer will be to his and your benefit. He is still young and has plenty of energy inside that little body of his. He is going to need a family that understands the importance of basic and advanced training. We advise that families work on their own basic training so that boundaries and expectations can be set and personalities and body language learnt in the process, which will help form a much stronger bond. Woody will make a great family addition to an experienced family. He is fun, active and very loving and deserves a good family and home to call his own. We would prefer Woody to have a family that has another dog, or other animals he can socialize with, he loves other dogs and has been with 25+ dogs since he was 2 months old. %BD'%BD%BD %BD'%BD%BDWe do not recommend dog parks for several weeks, if not months, it is so very important for families and dogs to form a strong bond and get to know each other before exposing them to the potential dangers of dog parks.
