Rescue Me ID: 14-07-31-00404Hansel (male)

Dachshund    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Blue/tan smooth male. Born: 10/30/2013. Due to him being a dilute in color he has slight thinning in hair(possible alopecia). He's very laid back. Slight food aggression that can easily be corrected. He has only been in same room with his sister. I've never put him with any male dogs, but I think he'd do better with female. He's never known kids, but again I think this can be easily rectified. I DO NOT want him used for breeding. I want him fixed ASAP. He's a loving boy and deserves an awesome family. He needs a fenced in yard.

Welllllll, I thought I had found my forever home in Derrider La, but it didn't work out, instead I spent from July 1st thru July 19th in a boarding facility and the lady that said she wanted me never picked me up. So Ms Mona drove and picked me up on Sunday, July 19th and cleared the bill I had accumulated for my stay. Unfortunately her big dogs still want nothing to do with me so I'm back living at The Shak, where she grooms. PLEASE SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY Daushound mix grey 17 lbs Sweet temperament, laid back, will walk on leash, likes napping gets along good with none aggressive dogs My name is Nook, my human daddy died last ... (Read More)year and no one else in the immediate family wanted me, actually I got put out then after I was rescued by neighbors my human brother showed up looking for me to bring me to the shelter.... I had been eating at nearby neighbors for a couple of months and the neighbors thought I was still being looked after by my family because they would see a vehicle occasionally in and out. Anyway it was determined because of my condition that no one was seeing about me and I was surviving on leftovers being thrown out and a neighbor stopping by and leaving a bowl of chows when he was in from offshore. I wouldn't let anyone catch me and regardless of my condition I can run fast when I have to. I've been on Taste of the Wild diet and I'm doing a lot better. Ms Mona thought I was going to die when she initially rescued me, my skin was in bad shape and although I could run fast to get away I could hardly climb the steps at the Shak and could not get in a basket bed. I was given a rabies shot in November of 2013 and since have in April of 2014 been checked out by Dr Audrey got all my vaccinations and was put on the 6 month Pro-Heart shot, I am also on comfortis, oral flea control, once a month. Dr Audrey estimates me to be around 14 yrs old. Ms Mona is a groomer, she body clips me and I look like a 17lb dachshund, she has seven dogs of her own and the four large dogs will not accept me and I'm not a fighter so I live at The Pet Shak, where she grooms and although she has tried to place me, even with free grooming, it's not happening. It's going to take a special person to adopt me I'm quiet, loving like to sleep don't mind being walked on leash and get along fine with dogs that are not aggressive. When Ms Mona is here at work I hang out with her two poodles and rat terrier. I would appreciate any help in helping me find my forever home so I can live out the rest of my days with a loving family, Thanks for any help :) (Less)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Hilda and Hazel are two year old sisters already on heartwork treatment. They are spayed, chipped, have been to a private veterinarian and are great dogs!!!! They must be taken as a pair as they have been together all of their lives and they depend on eachother. They are being fostered in New Orleans, but need a good home with someone who has a lot of time to spend with them. I adopted them and had to return them because my two male dachshunds could not make the adjustment. They are great girls, so loving, and obedient , and housetrained. They are the best.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dachshund in Louisiana
Dachshund Dogs can make good pets in Louisiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Dachshund is a long, short-legged dog with a temperament similar to that of a terrier. Dachshunds are well suited to apartment life but need exercise, and it is important that they not be overfed as this breed is prone to weight gain.

lnteresting Dachshund Trivia Low-Cost Louisiana Spay & Neuter Clinics
Dachshunds are good travel companions. Dachshunds are named for Dachs, the German term for Badger, which these dogs were bred to hunt. The short legs of a Dachshund are well suited for digging and getting inside badger burrows. Dachshunds are often referred to as wiener dogs because of their shape.
