Rescue Me ID: 15-05-13-00204Cooper (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Cooper the super cute German Shepherd mix pup. This guy is about 9 months old and weighs about 35-40 pounds. He looks bigger in the picture, but he he probably mixed with something kind of small. His legs are a little stumpy and his body is long. Think: shepherd/dachshund mix. Seriously. Cooper was a stray that no one claimed. He is now up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. Here's what we have learned about Cooper: He is 100% housebroken and hasn't had a single accident in the home. He hasn't chewed anything in the home and has NOT been crated. He is also super calm around people food. He watches his current foster ... (Read More)parents cook and never begs or will take food off counters or plates even if the sneaky opportunity arises. He has GREAT house manners. Cooper loves other dogs and would like for them to be his best friend. He would do well in a household with another dog that would appreciate an energetic companion to follow them around like they are the coolest big sister/brother ever. Cooper gets along with cats and is sharing a house with two right now. They don't love him, and he is taking it all in stride. When Cooper isn't being a typical playful puppy, he is snuggling and being incredibly sweet. He rides well in the car and walks good on leash. He does get bored quickly and will need somebody active. Cooper also wants to be boss of when playtime is. He gets into his crazy puppy mode and doesn't always know when enough is enough. Call it bratty teenager behavior, and sometimes he doesn't like to be told no. He might be too rambunctious in these moods for small children. If you would like to foster or potentially adopt Cooper or if you have any questions, please send us an email to pawswapofgreaterlafayette@aol.com or fill out an adoption application online at pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-09-00417Wash (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Wash. He is a 1.5 year-old Basenji / Dachshund mix who is just plain awesome. He is also cool, fun, funny, happy, playful, and cuddly. More than all of that, he is incredibly well-mannered and an all-around good boy. Wash loves to play fetch and with toys. He loves being around his people but is not a fan of sharing any attention, therefore, we are looking for a home for him as an only pet. Wash does well around other pets in public and will play with other dogs and get along just fine, he really prefers to be able to go home and have you all to himself. Wash is well trained after spending some quality time in a foster home with a ... (Read More)dog trainer. He is trained to go to his crate on the command 'crate', but doesn't love to be in his crate. He knows 'sit', 'down', 'stay,' 'back', 'crate', 'wait', 'leave it', 'drop it', he comes when called, and is still working on his leash training. Wash is neutered, up-to-date on shots, and microchipped. He is also housetrained, but prefers his people not to be gone for long hours. If you would like to give Wash a wonderful forever home, please send us an email and request an adoption application or visit us online at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com and fill one out. Once we review it, we will be in touch. (Less)

Dachshund    Age: Senior

My family has had this dachshund since he was a puppy. My parents have recently moved and decided they don't want to take care of him anymore. He's a very sweet dog and I want to find a good home for him to live out the rest of his days. He is 14 years old but he has the spunk of a puppy. He's crate trained and doesn't bark much. This senior citizen just wants love and attention. I would love for him to be adopted with his brother Hans (15-04-10-00687) because they are so bonded and it would be hard to separate them.

This precious Dachshund has been with my family since he was a puppy. My parents have moved and decided they don't want to take care of him anymore and I want to find him a good home. He is 8 years old and very overweight (he's on a diet right now). He does well with other dogs and is very friendly with people. He's crate and leash trained. I would love for him to be adopted with his brother Fritz (15-04-10-00689) since they have lived their whole lives together and are so bonded.
