Dachshund Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Frankie and Charlie! These two boys are bonded soul mates and won't let each other out of their sight for more than 5 minutes, no surprise since they have been together nearly all of their 13 years. They came into rescue when their previous mom was forced to enter a nursing home. Both of these boys needed and received dental work and a full blood work up. Charlie has a few lumps in his old age that are just too risky to go under anesthesia to remove. Frankie had a skin issue which has cleared up. These two boys are looking for a quiet home to live out their lives together and at a quiet pace. The both move a bit slower these days and, ... (Read More)while they get along with other dogs, they would prefer the other dog to be friendly and low energy. They are house trained, dog door trained, crate trained, and simply adorable in their interactions with each other. They are up to date on vaccinations and neutered. Can you provide them with a spoiled and loving home to finish out their life?? (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-14-00460Bailey (male)

Dachshund    Age: Senior

FOSTER LOCATION: Nampa, ID Say hello to Bailey. He is a 10 year old, 19 pound, long haired dachshund. But don't let his age fool you. He still loves to go on walks, run around, and play with other dogs. This lovely boy came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue after his former guardian could no longer care for him. Bailey is one of the friendliest and gentle souls you will ever meet. When we first met Bailey he came waddling over with a happy tail in full wag. When we walked out to the car he hopped right in and jumped right onto his foster moms lap with the biggest doggie grin. Be warned that he has a goofy look that makes I very hard to not grin ... (Read More)right back at him! Due to cheap food and no routine dental maintenance Baily has almost no teeth left so his tongue hangs about an inch out of the side of his mouth 90% of the time. Bailey can really fulfill the needs of almost any household. He is great with kids, house trained, doesn't get car sick, and is fine in a crate when you're not home. As far as special needs go he does have a history of bladder stones. This can usually be counteracted by having him on a special diet and making sure he is drinking plenty of water though. Other than that he seems to be quite healthy. Bailey is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped. Bailey has also had senior blood work done and he is fit as a fiddle. If are you looking for a sweet, active and happy companion Bailey might just be the one. If you are interested in Bailey please complete an adoption application here: There is a $50 adoption fee for Bailey (Less)

Dachshunds are good travel companions. Dachshunds are named for Dachs, the German term for Badger, which these dogs were bred to hunt. The short legs of a Dachshund are well suited for digging and getting inside badger burrows. Queen Victoria was fond of Dachshunds.
