Rescue Me ID: 16-08-24-00290Dan (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

These amazing ears belong to our newest resident, Dan. This little guy just transferred in from another Idaho rescue. Our best guess is he is a Chihuauhua/Dachshund mix, but his breed really doesn't matter once you meet him and see his cute personality. Dan is a chill dude that enjoys going for walks, but is also happy to snuggle up and be held once he has had some outside time. Dan appears to be house trained and is quiet boy who is patiently waiting for his new home. He appears to do great with other dogs and is just a little over a year old. To meet Dan, we invite you to stop by the rescue during business hours. *Please contact the rescue ... (Read More)for Dan's adoption fee. (Less)

Dachshund    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Fiesty 10 year old girl (acts like she's 2!) Junie is sweet, friendly and active. She gets along with other dogs. She belonged to my mother-in-law who has severe dementia and is now in a facility. We live in a small apartment and cannot have her. Junie just wants to cuddle and sleep under the covers. She would do best in a home with other dog friends.

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-14-00460Bailey (male)

Dachshund    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Nampa, ID Say hello to Bailey. He is a 10 year old, 19 pound, long haired dachshund. But don't let his age fool you. He still loves to go on walks, run around, and play with other dogs. This lovely boy came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue after his former guardian could no longer care for him. Bailey is one of the friendliest and gentle souls you will ever meet. When we first met Bailey he came waddling over with a happy tail in full wag. When we walked out to the car he hopped right in and jumped right onto his foster moms lap with the biggest doggie grin. Be warned that he has a goofy look that makes I very hard to not grin ... (Read More)right back at him! Due to cheap food and no routine dental maintenance Baily has almost no teeth left so his tongue hangs about an inch out of the side of his mouth 90% of the time. Bailey can really fulfill the needs of almost any household. He is great with kids, house trained, doesn't get car sick, and is fine in a crate when you're not home. As far as special needs go he does have a history of bladder stones. This can usually be counteracted by having him on a special diet and making sure he is drinking plenty of water though. Other than that he seems to be quite healthy. Bailey is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped. Bailey has also had senior blood work done and he is fit as a fiddle. If are you looking for a sweet, active and happy companion Bailey might just be the one. If you are interested in Bailey please complete an adoption application here: There is a $50 adoption fee for Bailey (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dachshund in Idaho
Dachshund Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. The Dachshund is a long, short-legged dog with a temperament similar to that of a terrier. Dachshunds are cheeky, playful, mischievous, and resistant to training or discipline. Dachshunds do well with older children. Dachshunds are well suited to apartment life but need exercise, and it is important that they not be overfed as this breed is prone to weight gain.
