Hello, my name is Maggie and I was rescued by a wonderful lady by the name of Rebecca and her doxie posse on the 12th of December. I was very thin and did not feel well. I had just given birth to 7 pups 8 weeks prior and that had really taken a lot out of me and then being in the shelter I was confused and stressed out over my pups and my new surroundings. Rebecca drove me to Atlanta and my foster mom picked me up, she was going to put me in a kennel crate for the 40 minute ride home, but I crawled right over and snuggled in her lap the whole way home. My foster mom took me to the vet and he said that I had some heartworms and that I ... (Read More)needed to get some groceries in me and a few more pounds before we did any kind of treatment. I also will be getting spayed as well. My foster mom gave me a good bath to get the smell of the shelter off of me. I have some skin allergies and foster mom discovered that a gluten free diet makes me feel so much better. I take a bath really well and smelled so good when she finished. I love my little bed that has a warm blanket that I curl up on. I am a little cold natured and like to wear my sweater as well. My foster mom and dad discovered after a few days that I have a hearing deficit. I can hear some things, like a squeak toy. My mom feels that I might can hear more than I am letting on'|. I am housebroken and will let you know when I need to go outside. My foster mom originally walked me on a leash and now I go out in the fenced yard with my two foster brothers. I follow them out and do my business. I hope you will consider giving me a good place to be loved and live forever. Maggie May is currently being fostered in GA. lnteresting Dachshund Trivia Low-Cost Delaware Spay & Neuter Clinics
Dachshunds are good travel companions. Dachshunds are named for Dachs, the German term for Badger, which these dogs were bred to hunt. The short legs of a Dachshund are well suited for digging and getting inside badger burrows. Dachshunds are often referred to as wiener dogs because of their shape.
