|Rescue Me ID: 15-05-23-00285Preston (male)|
Doxie-lovers behold!! A Dachshund with a face like his, a coat like his and unique eyes like his will melt your heart!! And a story like his is one of resilience: Preston was found running for his life on a busy highway in Arkansas, no doubt purposely dumped there by someone who no longer wanted him. Thankfully he was saved by a passing motorist and was pulled into rescue where he is now living at a foster home and not looking back! Preston is a gentle love bug who wags his tail at everyone he meets. His favorite place to sit in is the nearest lap and he'll follow you just to see if there is a chance you might sit down so he can climb in! He loves going for walks, but make sure you build in some extra time because you're bound to get stopped everywhere you go by people wanting to say hello to such a happy boy! He is great with the school-aged children in the foster home, he loves to play with the other dogs who live there and is happy to let the cat rule the house. He might be small at just about 22 pounds, but he's got a big personality with lots of love to give - - he just needs that family to give it to!! Preston is about 2 years old and he is a very healthy girl. If you can make Preston the promise of a forever home second time around, please visit www.pinkshelter.com for more information about the adoption process. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-04-09-00085Camilla (female)|
Our lovely Camilla is a perky, confident beauty, who will charm her adopter with an unbridled joie de vivre! She joined our rescue last year, after a stint in a high kill animal control facility, where she slipped through the cracks, and wound up on the shelter euthanasia list. When we came across Camilla's shelter mugshot, we were struck by the terrified uncertainty in her pretty brown eyes, and, of course, her batwing ears. As soon as she joined our country bumpkin rescue, Camilla began to come out of her shell, and shed her haunted, fearful look. Slowly, a confidant posture emerged, until she was facing life with squared off shoulders, and upright ears. One and a half years old, Camilla is a striking young girl, with the most luscious carmel colored coat and black muzzle. She appears to be a mix of two tenacious Toy breeds that strike terror in the hearts of the world wide rodent population: Miniature Dachshund and Miniature Pinscher. Camilla's profile reveals that unmistakable Doxie elongated spine and squat stature, mixed with the proud posture, erect ears and tail of the Min Pin. She is a small, muscular dog, and at 15 pounds, she looks like she means business! We pity the fool rat that crosses our formidible canine Amazon princess. As a double dose of tiny working dog, Camilla has a tenacity and high energy level that must be channeled into appropriate activities. She still has her puppy mojo, and adopters will need to provide adequate daily exercise. She would be a great fit for active adults, who relish the rigors of puppyhood, and who have the time and patience to nurture Camilla's great potential. Exercise and discipline are the keys to Camilla's rescue program. She would make a great running, walking or hiking champion, and she absolutely loves outdoor activities. She has the signature intelligence that we expect from our Mini Doxies and Min Pins, and she is quick to grasp basic obedience commands. We have begun Camilla on the Canine Good Citizenship program, and she's already performing beautifully. We encourage adopters to take her the rest of the way, and register her as a CGC advocate. Camilla has great house manners, and is mostly house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot house training issues because rescue dogs lose quite a bit of their mojo during the rescue process. Camilla is a smart girl and will quickly adjust to her new potty routine. Camilla in excellent health, and has been spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies and DA2PP (distemper, adrenovirus, parvo and parainfluenza). She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been microchipped and dewormed. If you are interested in Camilla, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call Denise at 720-903-0636 for more info. Eskies Online is a 501(c)(3) Multibreed rescue group that serves unwanted American Eskimos and other dogs in need. Our group of volunteer foster homes spans the North East, and our adoption territory extends from Maine to eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and parts of northern Maryland. |Rescue Me ID: 15-04-05-00259Murdoch (male)|
This gorgeous boy seemed perfect in every way, which made it that much sadder to see him on his last day in a high kill shelter in the south. How lucky a volunteer alerted us so that we could save him. This little guy is nothing but joy and pleasure. He loves the people he has met including children, and is great with the other dogs in his foster home. He has become a favorite of all who meet this charming pup. He's about 28 lbs and 2 - 3 years old which makes him a great small house or apartment dog--but needs a home that won't be short on love and attention. He deserves lots of TLC after all he's been through. We have given him his shots, worming and neuter so he is healthy and ready to come up north to go home. Full vetting and transport included in his $425 adoption fee. If you can find it in your heart and home to give Murdoch the family he deserves, please copy and paste this link to your web browser to fill out our online application, http://members.petfinder.com/~CT243/sampleform.html. We cannot be certain what his true mix is. (Less)

|PIease Read Before Adopting a Dachshund in Connecticut|
Dachshund Dogs can make good pets in Connecticut if they match your IifestyIe. The Dachshund is a long, short-legged dog with a temperament similar to that of a terrier. Dachshunds are cheeky, playful, mischievous, and resistant to training or discipline. Dachshunds do well with older children. Dachshunds are well suited to apartment life but need exercise, and it is important that they not be overfed as this breed is prone to weight gain.
