Rescue Me ID: 14-07-01-00602Diesel (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Currently located in CT, Diesel is a 2 1/2 year old 'lowrider'. He is about 20 pounds and a bit shorter than most basenjis. He's the fun combination of a Basenji and Dachshund - that mix makes for a wiggly singing digging running loyal boy. Don't let his low stature fool you, he can jump like a kangaroo and almost look you in the eye. His antics can be followed on the FB page of his foster hostess and hosts: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1411381582456341/ . His foster mom has posted hundreds of pictures! Diesel's favorite part of the day is meal time, so he sings to his foster mom while the food is being prepared. He will finish his meal ... (Read More)and move onto the next closest bowl if you let him. We are working on having him sit and wait after eating his meal, as well as being gentle when taking a treat out of his foster mom's hand. Diesel knows how to roll over on command for a treat. Well, sort of. He will do a fakie and spin hoping that's enough but will sing when you insist he rolls over and is super happy he pleased his human and gently takes his reward. Originally an only child, Diesel has two older males and a young female basenji to play with in his foster home. He has placed himself second in command of the pack, behind the female and they get along wonderfully. Although he isn't the boss, he does challenge the female from time to time and is put back in his place. Diesel does bark occasionally, but his vocalizations usually range from singing to barking like he's talking to you. Unlike a typical Basenji, Diesel wants to please his human and be by their side as often as possible. He has good recall which was tested once when he figured out how to open the gate when his foster mom stepped out of his reach. His belly is soft as silk, his eyes are a mesmerizing yellow color and he curls up into a little ball when it's time to sleep. Diesels foster mom works full time and the fur kids have run of the house. He isn't destructive aside from trying to eat his way into the food bin and any poor wildlife that are caught in his grasp that are promptly devoured. While Diesel can be good with other dogs, he should be given lots of time to adjust to new groups and situations. His short stature seems to leave him feeling just a bit threatened when he is in a new and busy place. Imagine how you would feel being the smallest/shortest kid on the playground. It would be best to visit doggy parks when they are not so busy until he has settled in well with the doggy park routine. It is unknown how Diesel would be with a cat, so a cat-free home is preferred. He is fine with well-behaved children who are not going to tease him or be prone to dropping food. A home with no toddlers or hyper children is preferred. A calm family will really help him blossom. Diesel should not show Fanconi Syndrome symptoms, given that he is just a DNA carrier. Please do not give chicken jerky based treats (and perhaps other treats/toys) from China to any dog, since they have been linked to an induced form of Fanconi Syndrome. Diesel's adoption fee is $100. If you are interested in adding Diesel to your family, please complete an application by selecting the Adoption and Volunteer Application link at the top of our website: http://www.campbasenji.org/ . Rescue Me ID: 14-05-01-00363Daisy (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed

Daisy is a very loyal dog. She is 6 years old and has the heart of a puppy. She loves to be active but loves her naps as well. She enjoy long walks and even great to take jogging or running with you she keeps up. She grows fond of people the more she spends time with them. She loves cuddling next to my 1 year old niece and she lets her touch her with no problem as well as my 5 year old nephew. They play with her as well with no problem. She does bark if a stranger seems to be threatening but she listens to your instructions and stays by your side. She is very much a watch dog if you are looking for one, she's very attentive and can hear when ... (Read More)someone is close to your property or on it. Once she familiarized the common noises from the uncommon noises she will not bark often. She's a great cuddler, very warm and she loves treats! She stands up on her two legs. I just want her to have a loving home and family who will play with her, keep her active, safe and happy. She is a healthy and great dog. Please contact me if you are serious about giving her a new loving home. Thank you (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-03-11-00100Chip (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chip is a cutie-pie, a friendly, happy dog who loves to play, and is being so patient while waiting for his very own home. He is two and a half years old, and weighs in at about 18 pounds. All four of his feet look like he's wearing perfect white socks. If it's true that that the 'eyes are the 'windows to the world', CHIP'S gorgeous, expressive and 'be my friend' eyes are the proof. If you've been wanting a small, adult dog, CHIP might be just the one for you. He is attentive, should be easy to train, walks well on a leash, and likes playing with other dogs. He also LOVES to cuddle, and would make a perfect companion for someone who wants a ... (Read More)dog, but might not want the extra care required by a large dog -- a couple turns around your backyard and he's had all the exercise he needs. Chip has had his Rabies Vaccination, De-worming, and DHLPP Vaccination. He has also been neutered and has a Microchip if he was to get separated from you. Of course, we cannot be certain what his true mix is. The adoption fee for CHIP is $400 which includes all of the above and his transport up north. If you think you have found the boy you have been looking for, please copy and paste this link to fill out our online application, http://members.petfinder.com/~CT243/sampleform.html.
