Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dennis was surrendered to our rescue with his mom and his 4 sisters. The people who had this family did not take good care of them, and the puppies were an accident, so the family did not want to deal with them anymore. Demi is now in a foster home until he can hitch a ride to CO at the end of this week. The foster who has Demi and his siblings in Texas said that they are the best group of puppies with the sweetest and easiest temperaments that she has fostered in a very long time. Their mom is also an incredibly sweet dog and has taught them very well. You can start to see her great personality traits in these puppies. With the right ... This size is perfect for hiking the CO mountains and being able to go on long walks or even slow runs, but to also be a lap dog. Their cute little scruffy faces are pretty hard to resist. If you are interested in adopting Dennis or one of his sisters, please email us for an application at sunshinecanyondr@gmail.com. Rescue Me ID: 16-02-08-00701Dina (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Dina is a 2 year old, 21lb terrier mix. Dina was relinquished to our rescue with her 5 puppies. Poor Dina had many puppies before this litter, and our rescue had been in contact with Dina's family for a while trying to them to spay her or relinquish her to us since they did not ever take good care of her. Finally, after her 3rd litter that we are aware of, Dina's "owner" finally relinquished her to us with her 5 puppies. Dina is now on her way to CO and is ready to find a forever home who will love and cherish her for the amazing dog that she is. Dina's foster says she is one of the sweetest and smartest dogs she has ever ... (Read More)fostered in Texas. This is the write up that Dina's foster wrote about her: "She is such a special little girl. Her personality is great, she is happy and loves to play, but she also loves to cuddle with her humans. She likes to play fetch, but she doesn't bring the ball back. She loves toys, We buy the plastic bones and she will sit with it for hours. She hasn't done anything destructive since we have had her. She likes to lick shoes, no clue why, she just does it. She gets along with any dog (I have 10 others in my home). She is totally potty trained, but not to a point where she comes to let you know she needs to go, We just have a habit of letting them go outside every couple hours, but no accidents while we are sleeping, and she sleeps with us. And she doesn't have accidents while we are at work, we crate her during work hours. She likes the crate and goes into it on her own, but only when she feels like it. In the morning, she tries to hide when its time for me to leave because she doesn't want to go in the crate. Lol. She only sits when there is a treat involved, haha. If you are sitting on the couch, she comes up and puts her paws on your legs letting you know she wants up or she wants to be petted. She is very loving, loves giving kisses, to her humans or her doggie friends" As you can see, even though Dina was forced to be a Mama, she is still a puppy herself and would love a home where she could play and finally act like a puppy. Dina would be great in any sort of family, we believe she would do great with kids of any ages as well. Dina would love a doggy brother or sister to play with, but she would also be okay without one. She is pretty easy going!! If you are interested in adopting Dina, please email us for an application at sunshinecanyondr@gmail.com (Less)

Animal ID: 1017Mable (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mable Female Long Haired Dachshund 7 years old 10 lbs. Pop quiz: what do Clark Gable, Clint Eastwood, and the Queen of England all have in common? As we all know, behind many a great human stands an even greater Dachshund - and you guessed right - they were all Doxie lovers! I'm Mable, of the Dachshund clan, and so pleased to meet you. I haven't had a famous family (yet!) but I'm new in Denver and reviewing applications to see if you might be a fit for my bright future. Like your textbook Doxie, I'm sugar and spice, and a whole lot of moxie. I love humans, especially hanging out with the ladies, and I'm comfortable accepting belly-rubs ... (Read More)from every new friend I make. Around the house, I'm still working on a few finer points like navigating stairs (these legs aren't really built for climbing!) but mostly I'm happy chilling on the couch with you by day and sleeping in my crate at night. A youngster at heart, I go nutty for new toys and will gladly accompany you around the block, but if we're being frank, I'm no athlete - I'd rather watch old movies and help you take down the Christmas lights (yes, I'm looking at you)! Lots of personality, zero drama: don't mind if I say so, I'm the total package. Currently, I'm working on practice for competing in the annual Long Dog Derby at Denver's Oktoberfest, and getting my routine down for Oscar Meyer Weiner (dog) mascot. Let's set a date and see if you might be contenders for my new celebrity family! Head over to the PawsCo website, and fill out an application, or shoot them an email at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org! Rescue Me ID: 16-02-02-00239Addi-ADOPTION PENDING (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The Dachshund/Terrier mix is a perfect combo for those with who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...they're famous for their great temperaments and extremely loving and snuggly ways. They're known to be trustworthy and very gentle with family members and other family pets...and since they (like all dogs) require a certain amount of exercise and love being with their people...if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes are known to hike joyfully through the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and canines. Addi is an ... (Read More)absolutely adorable and engaging girl (she resembles the sleek beauty of a fox!) who favors the long-haired stunning coat of the Doxy and intellect and fun of a scruffy Terrier. Since Addi doesn't appear to shed her coat, she'll require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her stunning golden-red hair healthy and matt-free.. Addi's Texas foster mom sent us the following report on sweet this sweet girl: Addi has to be the the most endearing dog ever! She greets me in the morning with the cutest smile. She's very politely asking for breakfast. I also have to brag about how great she is with everyone..all people, dogs and cats! She's nothing but positive energy and loving fun! Addi is a long-haired Dachshund mix with a bit of Terrier in there (I think). She could also be known as a Terrshund (in other words, she's a stunning designer dog, teehee)! Addi weighs approximately 12 - 15 lbs (hard to tell exactly). and has a calm, gentle nature and always sweet personality. My 7 and 9 year old daughters love her! Addi gets along famously with my senior 80 lb. Smooth Coat Collie, young, energetic 14 lb. Miniature Poodle and is very polite with my 2 cats. In other words she's perfect and I'd never let her go if my husband didn't put his foot down at 5 pets! Addi is the greatest companion I've ever fostered! She perks up when she sees me get her leash as she loves to go for long walks. She engages with everyone and behaves herself like a champion. What can I say...Addi is a dream-dog..no kidding! She is a perfect companion, loves to be in your lap but never needy. She will steal your heart (and the hearts of your family) instantly. I only ask that she be loved completely. No dog ever deserved it more! Our rescue assessment of sweet Addi is that her kind nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...she makes close playmates everywhere she goes. Addi is very outgoing and social and that means everyone she meets ultimately becomes a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Addi's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through her entire body ending into a smile. And if your lap is available, up Addi goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of her devotion. Addi is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of the Doxie/Terrier. At about 18 - 24 months old and just about 12 - 15 lbs, she seems to have left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. Addi has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would like to see Addi in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very social and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Addi would be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup or a family with gentle dog-loving kids. Addi doesn't require another dog or cat to be happy...but does enjoy her relationships with kind and gentle dogs and cats. Addi will arrive on transport in Boulder on Saturday 2/6/16. If interested in this very loving, entertaining and loyal best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Dachshund    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Pepper is a very special Miniature Dachshund who's lived in a very loving home with us ever since she was a puppy. She weighs about 8 pounds and has no physical issues, however Pepper does have some challenging habits that have led us to seek out a new, loving home for her. She has all her vaccines up to date and has AKC papers available as a pure bred Dapple Miniature Dachshund. We're seeking someone who has the time, energy and patience to work on her behavioral issues with her. She has severe separation anxiety which we've tried working on for almost 2 years now. She is a very sweet and loyal dog who has attached herself to one person ... (Read More)in the house and is very shy/resistant with everyone else. She also has potty training issues. She knows how to go outside when she's told and will potty where she's told, but if she isn't let out frequently she will have accidents. She also requires a lot of attention when it comes to meal time since she will eat too much too fast and become sick, so we use a special slow feed bowl and that fixes the problem. Pepper loves her squeaky toys, playing with people and other dogs, running outside in the big backyard and sleeping in the bed at night. She also loves wearing little outfits, as you can see in her photo. Her favorite place to be is on someone's lap 24/7. We just want to find the very best home for her with caring, compassionate new owners who have much more time and possibly some previous dog training experience. Someone who is home for most of the day or works at home is ideal. She currently lives with two other Dachshunds, a Pomeranian and a Teacup Yorkie and she gets along very well with them. She also likes cats. She has never shown any signs of aggression, but she will bark at strangers. If you are patient, have experience with these behavioral issues and are looking to provide Pepper with a forever home, please contact us. Thank you. (Less)

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I need some help to find little Buddy a home. Buddy came to live with us two years ago when my Father was placed in assisted living. He loves us very much and we love him. The problem is that we already have two dogs, one female and the other is male. Buddy has become very dominant with the other dogs, especially with the little boy dog. He takes some time to warm up to people but once he does he is very loyal. He would do best in a home without other pets or children. He is about six years old and a Chihuahua dachshund mix we think. It breaks our hearts to have to give him away. We need to find him a loving forever home.

At about 2 & 1/2, Coral has so much life ahead of her. She is a bed bug & loves to sleep with you! She's ... (Read More)adores her foster momma & wants to cuddle quite often. She loves to lay beside you while you do computer work or watch TV. She would do great in a senior family or a family with older children. She could be your daily walking buddy! Coral loves to explore with you by her side. She loves to share kisses! House trained, cat friendly & dog friendly, Coral could fit in with any 4 legged friends. She likes to get to know her new friends and warm up. She resides in a foster home now with 7 other dogs & a cat. She is a true gem & shouldn't be passed up! You'll love this girl! My name is Gabe and I am a very sweet Chiweenie (Dachshund/Chihuahua) who is about 3 years old and I weigh 10 pounds. I found myself in a very bad place and the end was near when some wonderful folks came and got me and now I have another chance. I need an active family who will give me all the time and attention I need. Kids over 5 years would be okay too. I am quite the climber so I do need a very secure yard. I would be an ideal companion for someone who ... (Read More)wants a riding buddy as I love riding in a car. If you have been waiting for an active buddy, please ask for me on your application.     Dachshunds are good travel companions. Dachshunds are named for Dachs, the German term for Badger, which these dogs were bred to hunt. The short legs of a Dachshund are well suited for digging and getting inside badger burrows. Dachshunds are often referred to as wiener dogs because of their shape. Queen Victoria was fond of Dachshunds.
