Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Cleo and her brothers and sisters were dumped at a rural shelter. They really had no hope of a future there, but our rescue knew they would find the best homes in CO. They are about 10 weeks old, still itty bitty, and ready to find their forever homes. Cleo is a happy girl who likes to explore. She has floppier ears than the rest of the pups and the cutest little face and nose. She loves playing with her brothers and sister and likes to instigate the play like Bear. She will wiggle her little butt and jump around in circles to get the other pups to play with her. She loves to play tug with her siblings and tries to cary the ball around ... (Read More)but even the smallest tennis balls are too big, its cute watching her try though. She loves her foster mom and loves to give puppy kisses...and maybe a few nibbles :) We would love to see Cleo go to a home with a family who has lots of time to spend with her and snuggle with her. If it's family with kids, we will be extra cautious since she is so little, we don't want anything to happen to her. She is such a sweet girls so far, but we would love her new adopters to keep her socialization going in the right direction. Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Franz is a 4-5 month old, 10lb dachshund mix. Franz was found with another dog wandering the streets of Houston, TX. Our rescue partners picked them up, got them fully vetted, and into a safe home until they could travel to CO. They are now in CO and ready to find their separate forever homes. Franz is as sweet as can be. He is more outgoing than Hanz. He loves to play with all the other dogs and joins on the fun activities that the foster dogs do such as play, adventure the back yard, chewing on toys, etc. Franz loves affection and attention. He will run up to his foster mom and sit on her lap giving her kisses and looking for ... (Read More)belly rubs. Franz has no negative attributes and is all around just a wonderful little dog. He does have little stubby dachshund legs and the long dachshund body. He is just adorable, his pictures don't do his justice. Franz would love a home with another dog, but would also be okay being the only dog. He is fairy easy going. We would love Franz to go to a home with someone who has lots of time to spend with him. We do believe that Franz also does well with kids!! If you are interested in adopting Franz, please email us for an application at brighterdaysdogrescue@gmail.com (Less)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hanz is a 4- 5month old, Dachshund terrier mix. Right now, he weighs about 10lbs. Hanz is the cutest little dude. He has the short legs and long body of a dachshund, but the face of a lab. He is a unique dog for sure! We believe he will grow to be a medium sized dog (maybe 15-25lbs). Hanz was found with another dog wandering the street of Houston, TX. Hanz seems to have had a rough start to life, but is starting to come around. Hanz enjoys sunbathing and hanging out. He is a lower key pup and would love a relaxing place to call home. Hanz does great with the foster and her kids, he is a sweet dog! He does well with the fosters ... (Read More)other dogs too, but can get overwhelmed when puppies are climbing all over him. Hanz is a smart, smart dog. He seems to be potty trained and already knows how to use the doggy-door. Hanz is going to make a lucky someone very, very happy. We would love to see Hanz find another home with someone who has time to spend with him, but he is also okay being alone, so if his new family works, he would be okay with that!!! Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Jazzy is the puppy you want to have around! Jazzy, at just about 9 months old and 7 lbs (anticipated full-grown weight of approximately 9 lbs) , is initially a bit hesitant...then the most bonded and loving girl around. She's also very beautiful and so sweet. It makes her foster mom smile to watch Jazzy having the time of her life in her home. With the great nutrition she's receiving, Jazzy is gaining weight and is happy and healthy! Her new photo shows her adorable ears on a smiling cute-as-can-be face! This loving Chiweeny enjoys her time with her foster mom so ... (Read More)much that she joins her just about everywhere...a true best friend! She just generally enjoys all kind and gentle people. Jazzy is truly a little lap-dog extraordinaire and derives so much joy from her time spent with kind, dog-loving people. Jazzy also enjoys other dogs who are gentle to play with and great companions. This adorable puppy exudes love and loyalty...and it's catching! Jazzy's tough early life has left some initial shyness..but a soft touch and a yummy treat are perfect to bring Jazzy out of her shell. She continues to blossom every day that she's out of the shelter and in a loving and kind environment. Jazzy's bond to her people and her small size leads us to believe that Jazzy would be happy in either an active retiree's home...she would blossom with the time, attention and lap time that this type of family would offer. Or a family with dog-loving, very gentle children who respect Jazzy's small size would also be so much fun. Jazzy is so portable that she is able to accompany her family just about anywhere...be it under the seat on a plane or riding shotgun in the car, Jazzy is ready and willing. She is a welcome guest in every situation...when comfortable, her joy starts with her little wagging tail and works its way to the smile on her cuter-than-cute face. Watch out - before you know it, Jazzy has crept into your lap and snuggled up to spend time together. Say the word walk ...or simply play together...and Jazzy is all over it. Off she'll go in anticipation of not only an adventure, but an interaction with loving humans and friendly dogs. Jazzy has an amazing attitude for a little dog from a scary shelter... it was definitely her great temperament that saved this sweet pup's life. We've requested that Jazzy be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Texas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Jazzy's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Jazzy will arrive on transport in Denver on Sunday 3/26/17. If interested in this sweet, devoted and very silly best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Dachshund Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chuy is a 6 year old very energetic and healthy Chihuahua mix. We adopted him as a puppy from an animal shelter. 2 years ago, he had spinal surgery to repair a slipped disk in his back but made a fully recovery and is as active as ever! Last year,I went through a divorce and tried sharing custody of Chuy for the sake of our son, but unfortunately it has become a challenge due to our new work schedules, and living situation. Chuy is a true lap dog, and loves affection once he gets to know you. He loves to cuddle, and prefers sleeping next to you in bed! He barks at strangers, and is timid for the first few minutes, but becomes such a joy ... (Read More)after that. He gets along well with dogs his size, but does not like to be bothered by big playful dogs. He does excellent at dog parks, and loves walks! He is very smart too! He sits, rolls over, gives high 5's, and loves fetch! He does well with kids 10+, but is unsure of toddlers, never aggressive though towards them. I need to find a forever home for this little guy, and someone who loves and understands the chihuahua breed. He would do best with a couple, or family that has kids older than 10. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-11-00295Spot (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It got scarily close to Spot's euthanasia time in a dismal Texas shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate Texas rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute, but very frightened, fuzzy guy with a great temperament!) Spot was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer, shelter workers and Spot's foster haven't stopped raving about this cute guy (who is filled with so much love just ... (Read More)waiting to blossom) ever since. Spot, at 12 - 18 months old and 22 lbs, is the perfect size to hike the trails or take along just about anywhere. He is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - Spot is a natural-born walker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any path. We envision Spot with an active family with older, dog-lovingl kids or retirees who enjoy spending their time with a comical fuzzy guy Spot would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with gentle canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Spot than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats. Spot can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any home. He is a low-maintenance guy whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. After time to feel secure in his new home, Spot would shine in positive reinforcement group obedience classes since his desire to please is so strong. These type of classes create that special bond that exists between a trained, respectful dog and his people. After passing his temperament tests and vetting with flying colors, Spot is in a foster home in Texas being reminded of his basic house skills. His foster family has described him as a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? They did say that Spot may need a bit of time after his long transport to Boulder to be his happy and very loving self. Spot is in need of a sudsy bath and a great brushing'|. he will emerge with an amazing spotted coat that( over time) will speak of cottony softness and good health. Spot will require periodic baths and great nutrition to keep his coat (with the amazing markings) healthy and cottony-soft. Spot will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 3/24/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Rescue Me ID: 16-11-06-00352Lilly (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Lilly is Rose's mom. She was rescued same as Rose and Maverik from a flooded shelter in Louisiana. She completed her hw treatment and we are hoping in few months that she will test negative. Our vet believes that she was punched or kicked since her jaw is dislocated or possibly even broken. We will do X rays prior adoption. Lilly eats normally but is sensitive on touch. She does not appear to be in discomfort until she is touched around that area. She will cry if touched there. She is great with kids and all people but she should be handled carefully since she is only 10 lb. She gets along great with dogs and cats and gets little bit jealous ... (Read More)when it comes to attention sharing but nothing that can not be corrected. She is calm and does not bark but she does sometimes think that she is a big dog and a 'boss lady' toward other dogs (that is when that jealousy comes out). She would be great dog with older couple or somebody who lives in apartment. Lilly is potty trained and crate trained. Somebody who is at home majority of times or is willing to take her along would be a great fit for her. Lilly is super cuddle bug and true lap dog. She have short hair and does not require grooming so her care is easy pizzy and does not require much but a nail trim and a bath. She is available for foster to adopt until she tests negative on her hw test which should be repeated in few months. All costs for the test will be covered by the Smiths Den Dog Rescue. We always want to make sure our dogs have clean bill of health before they go into their forever homes. Lilly is located in Mississippi but is available for adoption out of the state. We can organize ground and plane transport if adoption is offered out of the state. Her daughter just found happy home in Colorado and we are hoping that soon she will find one too. (Less)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Marty is a mini dachshund mix that came to me about a month ago. At the time he was very fearful and hid from everyone for a couple of days. Now that he feels comfortable, he's very playful and loves belly rubs. Good with cats, adults, and kids over the age of 7 (doesn't liked to be patted too hard by toddlers). He had really dry and flakey skin when I brought him home, but on a diet of science diet, that cleared up. He loves to sleep on the foot of the bed at night and is allowed to free roam the house during the day with no problems. He is currently available for adoption through www.animalrescueoftherockies.com or email me at ... (Read More)kendall.melbye@gmail.com (Less)

Hi! My Name is Toby! I am a 3 year old Chihuahua/ Daschund Mix. I weigh 10 pounds and am the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. My current owner works all the time so I get really, really lonely. I'm looking for a nice lady to be my constant companion. I walk well on a leash, I know 'sit', 'stay' (for a little while) and 'come here'. I'm also crate trained so you don't have to worry about me getting in trouble if you're not home. Men tend to scare me and kids can sometimes be a little bit overwhelming. I really prefer to be attached to one human and go everywhere with her. I have separation anxiety and don't ever want to be left alone. I love ... PIease Read Before Adopting a Dachshund in Colorado
Dachshund Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. The Dachshund is a long, short-legged dog with a temperament similar to that of a terrier. Dachshunds are cheeky, playful, mischievous, and resistant to training or discipline. Dachshunds do well with older children. Dachshunds are well suited to apartment life but need exercise, and it is important that they not be overfed as this breed is prone to weight gain.
