Rescue Me ID: 16-05-15-00362Romeo (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young dog. Romeo is the kind of pup who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts his head on your shoulder. He's so sweet and social with every possibility open to him. That's the case unless a dog is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great rescuers and fosters in Tijuana, Mexico for saving Romeo from abuse and certain euthanasia. He could see that his temperament was so sweet and his need so great that she couldn't turn her back on this very special guy. Romeo was immediately brought to be vetted, given the ... (Read More)appropriate vaccinations, and granted a health certificate and brought to a dog-loving foster to begin his education as a cherished house dog. When we think of rescue, our thoughts don't usually go onto the tough streets of Tijuana. But these forgotten dogs deserve our help every bit as much as their US counterparts. They all have been used for opportunistic purposes...to either breed and discard or to sell as a puppy to a Mexican mill or rich tourists. Virtually all of them have lived on the streets and survived by learning to be social. They love people because compassionate tourists were their means of survival. They can sit in any language and fit quietly into any scene to earn a treat or discarded meal. This was the life waiting for Romeo...only about 6 months old and approximately 12 lbs. This is such a perfect size to be able accompany his family just about anywhere and fit right in due to his great temperament and very positive outlook on life. Romeo is already starting to understand that sweet, cuddly and cooperative behavior makes great things happen in life. He was one of the extremely lucky young dogs to master his socialization skills at a very early age and endear himself to the US rescuers. There was no way Romeo was going to be left behind! We all have a clear picture of this very sweet and fun-loving guy in a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes him for life. As Romeo becomes comfortable in his home, he will become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he will shine with his accomplishments. We would like to see Romeo in a home that includes him in family time and activities (and some lap-time would be perfect!)... and takes that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement obedience classes. These classes take a very smart dog like Romeo and molds them into a great family member that can behave appropriately in any situation. Romeo would also be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Romeo would enjoy another gentle dog to play with...he's so sweet and gentle as he puts his positive energy into enjoying the day with a fun friend. Romeo was identified as Dachshund mix (his body has that adorable Doxy look) by his Tijuana rescuer. When we got Romeo to the town vet, he agreed that Romeo was the cutest Schnauzer/Doxy mix he had ever seen. We all know that this is difficult to determine with certainty, but Romeo is definitely an adorable and engaging guy no matter what his breed mix may be. Romeo has the shiniest, cotton-soft coat. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement would be great) to keep his stunning coat healthy and shiny. Romeo will be arriving on transport in the Denver area on 3/23/16. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup with the dark, expressive eyes. If interested in this adorable ...and very fun and entertaining companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. Cassie is the kind of baby who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts her head on your shoulder. She's so sweet (while being initially just a bit shy) and truly kind with every possibility open to her. That's the case unless a puppy like Cassie is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space or on the streets hiding in the shadows. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great rescuer in Tijuana, Mexico for saving Kassie from abuse and certain euthanasia. She could see that her temperament was so sweet and her need so great that she couldn't turn her ... (Read More)back on this very special pup. Cassie was immediately brought to be vetted, given the appropriate vaccinations, spayed (this is still pending due to Cassie's young age), granted a health certificate and brought to a dog-loving foster to begin her education as a cherished house dog. This was the life waiting for Cassie...just 12 weeks old and a tiny 4 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 8 lbs when full grown). This is such a perfect size to be able to accompany her family just about anywhere and then fit perfectly onto a loving lap. Cassie will always fit right in due to her great temperament. Cassie is already starting to understand that sweet, cuddly and cooperative behavior makes great things happen in life. She was one of the extremely lucky very young dogs to show great promise in her socialization skills at a very early age. The US rescuers couldn't help but fall in love with Cassie! We all had a clear picture of this very sweet and fun-loving girl in a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes her for life. As Cassie becomes comfortable in her home, she will become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she will shine with her accomplishments. We would like to see Cassie in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and of course some lap or couch-time would be perfect!)... and takes that extra step to participate in puppy kindergarten and positive reinforcement obedience classes. These classes take a very smart puppy like Cassie and teaches them the skills to fit into a great family member that can behave appropriately in any situation. Cassie would also be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Cassie would enjoy another gentle dog to play with...she's so sweet and gentle as she puts her positive energy into enjoying the day with a fun friend. Cassie was identified as a Dachshund/Schnauzer mix (her flyaway ears are so cute!) by her Tijuana rescuer. This is difficult to determine with certainty, but we can see both adorable and engaging breeds in this very sweet dog. Cassie appears to be a very lightly shedding girl with the cottony-soft hair that speaks of her breed mix. She will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement would be great) to keep her hair healthy and matt-free. Cassie is arriving on transport in Boulder in mid-May. Applications are currently being accepted for our very sweet girl with the dark, expressive eyes. If interested in this adorable ...and often very fun and entertaining best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

I'm Lisette. I'm a super sweet and mellow girl who loves to cuddle. I am heart worm positive, but the kind folks at ARR are getting me treatment and after that's done, I'll be able to live a normal, healthy life! As I mentioned before, cuddling is my favorite thing, but it does take me a minute to warm up to new comers. Treats are also on my list of favorites. I'm pretty good at catching them when they're tossed to me! I also like to chew on bones, but who doesn't? I'm already pretty well trained, I know all my basic commands and then some. I'm going to be a great dog for one lucky family, I just know it. Fill out an application to ... (Read More)meet me today and see if it may be you! (Less)
