Rescue Me ID: 14-07-21-00569Cash (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing our rescuer noticed about Cash was his gorgeous eyes in the dim shelter light. She stared at Cash for a bit and saw all the wonderful possibilities in this gorgeous King Charles Cavalier mix. This photo definitely doesn't do this exceptional guy justice! A spa day is in order - underneath the shelter matts & filth is an exceptional white Cavalier mix with hints of apricot in his cottony hair. Cash immediately made it clear that he's a LOVE! His adorable little nose sniffed shyly through the bars at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile. Cash was brought out of his cage.. and before you know it, he was in ... (Read More)our rescuer's lap. He was shy and a bit frightened but was so happy for the hug and sense of safety. This 8-month old, 9 lb cutie-pie truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious belly rubs and kind words will send him over the moon. Cash wants to be a people dog...with a bit of post-shelter confidence and love...he will be overjoyed that he's finally found his forever family. We are searching for an adult-only home or a home with older kids 12+ for this very kind pup. It's not that Cash doesn't like young children.. but he can become overwhelmed by rowdiness and very loud voices - therefore a family with very young kids will not be considered. We envision Cash with a retired couple or individual who want an adorable young dog as a family member and companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his people....he's quiet and mellow enough to spend some afternoon time snoozing on the couch or would even happier happy to go for a long walk on mountain trails or neighborhood paths....just as long as he's with his person. He would also be a perfect office dog in a dog-friendly workplace....he would be well behaved and respectful (as long as he can sleep on your feet...great foot warmer) He can have moments of shyness from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great pup past any insecure feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned again. Cash will arrive on transport in Denver on 7/25. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in Cash, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-18-00133Booker (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Booker looked out from his dark cage on the death row aisle of a dismal Texas shelter - his eyes were bright and revealed a soft plea that begged for release from his prison. Farfel's TX rescuer couldn't help herself and quietly unlatched the lock and scooped Booker into her arms. She still speaks of the moment...Booker snuggled into her and stared into the face of his savior. There was no question that he was thanking her with his entire soul. Booker trotted joyfully from the shelter and jumped without hesitation into the car..and sighed deeply. He was finally safe! He was brought for the typical exams and vetting....he had a perfect ... (Read More)physical! He is now happily up to date on his vaccinations. In an effort to find a perfectly wonderful home for this exceptional companion, we have determined (with Booker's foster's help) our goals in his match. Booker is a 9 months to 1 year old, 16 lb guy who is so sweet and devoted...we envision him with loving and committed retirees or a dog-crazy family with children 12+. He would be overjoyed to cuddle on the couch and just simply relish his happiness at finally having a family. What a great companion to come along on family activities (perhaps a day in the park?) He's so happy to be included...his foster has enjoyed him riding shotgun as he kept her company on her errands around town. He would be very appropriate to take along on walks along beautiful Colorado trails (although Booker doesn't require huge amounts of exercise) or a visit with dog-loving friends...this would serve him in furthering his socialization education. In return, he will bestow tons of love and devotion on his people...it's just waiting inside of this adorable guy to give with all his heart. Booker gets along very well with dogs of similar size who are respectful and kind. He's never been around very active, rambunctious dogs and we think we should keep it that way. Booker is a very lightly shedding guy who will require periodic sudsy baths and brushing to keep his coat as shed-free as possible and SO silky-soft . Booker will be arriving on transport in Denver on 6/27. We are currently accepting applications for this wonderful and devoted companion. (Less)

Meet Luna, this sweet little Dachshund/Terrier mix who was found running stray and is in desperate need of a foster or adoptive home! The family who found her is calling her Luna. They are holding her temporarily and have paid for her first round of shots. She will need one more shot soon. She also has an appointment to be spayed. Her records will be provided to her adopters. Luna has fur more like a Terrier and a long body and big ears more like a Dachshund. She is white with black spots and has a little brown on her face. Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, my name is Wilbur! I'm only a four-year-old boy, but my Foster Mom tells me I have an old soul. I love to listen to my humans talk to me, love when she plays music and think everything humans do is incredibly interesting. So interesting, in fact, that I follow them wherever they go. I love hanging out with humans, and if you bring me home, I promise I'll love hanging out with you, too! I'm very friendly with people once I've had a chance to build my trust with them but I do take a bit of time to completely warm up and feel comfortable. Therefore, I will need a patient and loving family who will understand this about me! Once I know ... (Read More)you're kind and gentle, I will give you kisses, sit in your lap, and be a loving happy dog. Because of my uncertainty around new people, I don't think I'm a great match for small kids. But I do love hanging out with the other dogs in my foster home and we cuddle and keep each other company all day! I think my foster mom also calls me an old soul because I'm so 'chill.' I'm really relaxed and easy going. When she's away from the house, I patiently wait for her in the sunroom and catch some rays. There's no need to crate me - I'm potty trained! And when she's home, we go on great walks because I'm leash trained, too. I'm told that I'm a fast learner, which sounds really nice! At night, I love to snuggle with her in bed and give her lots of kisses. I'm really good at snuggling and cuddling! I also love to play with soft toys like stuffed animals (especially near my humans). If you want to meet me and give me a good scratch on the head, please email pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application on the website today! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-05-24-00471Gabby (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Gabby! This young, wonderful girl is called Miss Gabby Gertie by her foster mom. Gabby is completely house trained. She is such a good girl and very cute in so many different ways. Gabby will go outside and just play with her toys all by herself, throwing them around the garden, up in the air or shaking them in her mouth. She is such a social girl who plays nicely with other dogs at home and in the dog park. She likes to mouth wrestle and chase her friends around and around the park with no malice or agenda. Gabby is just super sweet! She is a submissive dog, although she has given the dog who lives in her foster home a little bark ... (Read More)every now and again when he's being particularly grumpy with her. Gabby is fabulous with kids and rarely jumps up. She is inquisitive and will go out and explore the garden. During the first couple of weeks in foster care, she dug a couple of holes. When her foster mom corrected her, she listened, and now she can be safely left outdoors while the vegetables are safe! Gabby has no fear of men so she seems to have no preconceived fears of anything, lucky girl! She has been to doggie daycare, and they say that she is such a good girl whilst there too. She plays and plays until all of a sudden, she lies down with her back legs splayed out (froggy style) in her usual relaxed pose. Gabby is a crazy maniac for rabbits!! She is walked with a harness on, which helps as she pulls and pulls after those little guys. We have volunteer trainers who can offer great advice on correcting this behavior for any potential adopters. If you'd like to meet Gabby, please fill out the online app today! Adoption fee is $225 and covers microchip, DAPP, Rabies, Heart Worm test and spay/neuter. Adoption fees also allow us to continue saving animals. Rescue Me ID: 14-05-16-00069Abbey-ADOPTION PENDING (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. Abbey is the kind of pup who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts her tiny head on your shoulder. She's so new and fresh with every possibility open to her. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Abbey and her 3 siblings...she could see that all their temperaments were so sweet and calm that she couldn't allow any of them to be euthanized. Abbey was immediately brought to be vetted and was brought to a great Houston foster home to receive pure ... (Read More)love and begin her education. It turns out that Abbey, (at only 7 weeks old and 3.5 lbs is the chunkiest and appears to be the most outgoing of the pups) is expected to be approximately 10-12 lbs when full-grown. She is very calm and so very engaging that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for her foster mom. Abbey is cute as a button and so silly. She is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her. If Abbey continues this regiment of socialization that promote positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Abbey will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion. She is a gorgeous Doxie mix puppy with the cutest markings ever (although we can't see anything but Doxie, we assume there's a bit of something else like Yorkie in there) with a shining coat that speaks of good health. Abbey's calm yet silly demeanor is just who she is...she just appears to be more entertaining than your average puppy. If she is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, Abbey will become a well-adjusted girl who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for this sweet and cuddly girl. We also feel it's very important that she is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. She would be overjoyed with walks along Colorado paths and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Abbey can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany her family just about anywhere. Abbey will be arriving in Denver unfixed due to her very young age...Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to her spay, microchip and any additional puppy shots she might require. We can't determine at this point if Abbey is a shedder. Lots of sudsy baths and serious brushing combined with great nutrition will keep this puppy's coat healthy and silky-soft. Abbey will be arriving on transport in Denver on 5/23. Applications are currently being accepted for this adorable and lovable puppy. (Less)
