Rescue Me ID: 18-04-19-00136Breeze (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that blue-eyed (and brown-eyed) Breeze the Wheaten Terrier/Long Haired Dachshund mix wants to make clear is that he's a love. In these photos you're not aware of the striking golden and beige colors that run through his gorgeous non-shedding or very lightly shedding coat (it's difficult to tell for certain at this point due to sad shelter hair) - with a commitment to periodic grooming, tender loving care and great nutrition, Breeze's coat will be healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Everything is new to Breeze...his adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a ... (Read More)loving touch. And then, before you know it, Breeze is cuddling close sharing the love and sweetness that lives inside of this amazing dog. Breeze was turned into a Texas shelter by his guardian to be euthanized. He apparently had been hit by a car and his family didn't have the means or desire to help. As Breeze was being processed into the shelter, he caught the eye of the shelter director...he's a stunning dog that radiates warmth and positive energy (even in great pain from his injuries). She crouched down to say hello and was brought to tears as Breeze dragged his injured body over to give and get love. She knew at that moment that she would put every effort into his safety. She whispered in his ear - your name for your new life is Breeze because one day you'll run again..just like the Breeze. Farfel's Rescue has submitted Breeze's measurements to Eddie's Wheels in Massachusetts where his custom wheelchair will be built to make the shelter director's promise a reality. This 12 - 18 month old, 17 lb Wheaten Terrier/Long Haired Terrier mix truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Breeze loves to spread his sweetness around. He is such a people dog...he loves kids but they definitely must be a bit older and very gentle to handle him kindly and with respect. We can envision Breeze with an active retired couple or individual.. or a younger family who want an adorable and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his favorite people and canine friends. Breeze has just received a brand new custom hiking wheel chair. Within minutes, he got the hang of his wheels and is now able to take on trails and paths just like a champ..keeping up with other dogs and his people is now so much easier for this young and able-bodied guy. Breeze would be overjoyed to accompany his family to dog-friendly spots..enjoying the sunshine and time together. Breeze can have just a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned. Breeze's basic nature is to be very joyful and positive.. and in just a moment, his silly and fun-loving personality takes over. While we've requested that Breeze be neutered/microchipped prior to his arrival in Denver, we're not optimistic that this will occur. If it does not, Farfel's is happy to cover all charges for Breeze if our Denver vet is used. Breeze is currently in a foster home in the Denver area. If interested in this sweet and very loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Breeze, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. (Less)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jack is a 3 year old, 13lb Dachshund/terrier mix. Jack was dumped at an overcrowded shelter in TX. We got an email telling us that their shelter was very overcrowded and they would have to start putting dogs down due to space. Of course we knew little Jack could find a wonderful home here in CO and he didn't deserve to suffer due to human neglect at such a young age. Jack has now been in foster in CO for 3 weeks. He is finally ready to find his forever home! Jack is the sweetest, and easiest pup. He gets along great with the fosters dogs, kids, and at times chaotic home. He loves snuggles more than anything. He already does great ... (Read More)on a leash and is very well behaved. He is not a high energy dog, and has a very easy going personality, but he does really enjoy hikes and adventures with his foster mom. He is pretty much the perfect dog. He is great to be an adventure buddy, but also the perfect size to be a lap/snuggle companion. If you are interested in adopting Jack, please email us at brighterdaysdogrescue@gmail.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-23-00084Betty (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Betty (previously named Lady April) is a dear, sweet little dog who just wants to be loved by her person. She loves to snuggle and love on her human and play with her toys. Once she warms up to people when they are introduced properly, she accepts them. She will play sometimes, but she is so focused on her owner, that nothing else exists. She is quite fearful of men, so any male in the home will have to go super slow with her and allow her time (she will bark and maybe growl a little) to get to know them and trust. She may still not fully trust a man after many months even, so potential adopters should be aware of this. Betty tries to ... (Read More)be possessive of her owner and will bark at anyone that comes near so they know that. A slight 'oopsie' correction usually will stop her barking. Her personality has come out in a short amount of time. She doesn't mind the crate but does like to sleep in the big bed with her person. She weighs 10#, is approx 3 y/o, and loves to cuddle. She can really wag that tail when she's happy! She is reliably house trained and lets you know when she has to go potty. She is very quiet aside from the occasional grunt/growl at unusual things but that should cease as she becomes more familiar and confident. She likes other dogs and enjoys running and playing with them, just not sharing her person with them. She has a slight luxating patella which doesn't seem to bother her because she LOVES going for walkies. Her new owner must commit to walking Betty a couple times per day. WDCR requires an application, home and reference check and a met and greet with current pets and/or children in the home. Betty is being fostered in Littleton, CO. (Less)
