Friends of Huntsville Animal Services Page Liked February 16 Edited D13 - ID# 441386 Female Dachshund mix, 1-3 years old SHOULD YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS ANIMAL, PLEASE CONTACT 256-883-3783 with the animal identification number provided. Huntsville Animal Services 4950 Triana Blvd Huntsville, AL 35805 PLEASE READ THE IMPORTANT INFO BELOW (your question may be answered here) This page is largely volunteer operated. We use our own time to visit the shelter, take pictures and post them to this page. With that said, the above information may be the only information we have available for this animal as we do not like ... (Read More)to get in the way of the shelter staff to ask a lot of questions on every single animal. Please know that a high percentage of animals in the shelter are brought in as strays. It is impossible to know anything about a stray animal and many times we can only make our best educated guess on breeds, age, etc. Every dog you see posted here has passed a general temperament test as performed by shelter staff and it is considered to be non-aggressive toward adults. As far as child or cat aggression, that is not a standard test that can be performed on every animal. If you are concerned about either aggression, it is suggested that you visit the shelter in person and ask a shelter attendant for assistance. We do allow you to bring pets in to see if they get along before adopting, and if you elect to do so, make sure your pet(s) are COMPLETELY up to date on vaccinations, especially bordatella (kennel cough). ADOPTION FEES Cats seven months and older are currently $35 as a special Spring and Summer promotion that includes spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, microchip, city license tag if applicable, feline AIDS/LEUKEMIA test, and may also include other basic vaccinations when applicable. Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Baxter, Happy and affectionate are the best words to describe him!!! Baxter is an 8 month old Dachshund, Chihuahua mix. And you'd better believe he still has all that puppy cuteness that is so hard to resist. This little boy is very active and loves to play, play, play. He is good with other small dogs and also love to be cuddled like a baby. His favorite thing in the world is to flop over on his back and get belly rubs. Baxter weighs 10 pounds and will not grow much more but should fill out and be about 12 pound fully grown. He is good on a leash and loves his walks. He is doing well with house training and is very good for being created ... (Read More)at night. Since spending time playing with his human or doggie companions is one of his favorite things to do, we think he'd be best with an active individual or family with a yard and smallish doggy friend for him have as a buddy. He's very smart and will probably learn commands and tricks pretty easily because he so eager to please. Being still very Baxter will need a home committed to lots of playtime, attention and someone able and committed to the training a puppy requires. To prepare for his new home Baxter has been fixed, given all the age appropriate vaccinations including his rabies and dewormed. If you're prepared for a lifetime of love, Baxter would relish being your bundle of joy! To find out more about Baxter please contact his foster family using the information on this site. *****Friends of cats and dogs preforms a home visit with the prospective animal so out of state/ long distance adoptions will not be considered. We apologize for any disappointment this causes. ***** (Less)
