Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

He's not good with crates tho. My cousin had him in a crate for nearly a month because he would 'chew up her cords' if she let him loose, which all puppies chew. He's a good dog other than that, he's happy, friendly, loves children and babies. Call Dorinda for more details!

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament

She looks just like her father Buddy. Her mother is Naia. She's perfect for someone who has depression or other issues like that. She did belong to my uncle, but seeing as how my mother and him were robbed, and being forced to move due to the robber (being a family member) ran the power bill up so high and they can't pay it now. My mom decided to only keep 2 of her 7 dogs and 2 of her 4 cats are mine. Call Dorinda if you are interested. Please, Luna can make anyone smile!

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: High Energy
Health: Needs to be Neutered

Buddy is a loving huge dog. We were told he was a Dachshund and Chihuahua mix, but he's too big to be that. He was attacked by other dogs at one point and has a broken rib that never healed right, we don't have a car and couldn't take him to the vet. Other than that he's perfect. I'll get his pic up once I can.

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-24-00158Michael (male)

Dachshund    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive,
 Abused/Neglected, Fearful/Anxious

Michael has disc disease and does not use his back legs to walk. He has had back surgery and physical therapy; have seen some improvement. He 'walks' using just his front legs and can move fairly quickly when he wants to. He has feeling and movement in his back legs and his tail. He can stand on all fours, briefly. He has control over his bowels and bladder; we have him wearing a belly band with incontinence pad to minimize accidents indoors. Michael is a handsome, long-haired black and tan standard doxie (21 pounds, 8 yo). He is very sweet and LOVES to be petted and held on your lap. Previous owner kept him outside and could not afford his ... (Read More)care when his back end went down. We keep him indoors, primarily; though he does love being outside. He is currently receiving heartworm treatment by the Auburn University Vet School, which is expected to be completed by the end of April. I need hip replacement surgery and a serious abdominal surgery and cannot continue to care for Michael. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dachshund in Alabama
Dachshund Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. The Dachshund is a long, short-legged dog with a temperament similar to that of a terrier. Dachshunds are cheeky, playful, mischievous, and resistant to training or discipline. Dachshunds do well with older children. Dachshunds are well suited to apartment life but need exercise, and it is important that they not be overfed as this breed is prone to weight gain.
