Sweet Sammy Davis. Hold on to your heart cause this extra sweet pup is sure to do his best to steal it. Meet Sammy Davis. This little guy is just about the nicest pup you're likely to meet. Sammy has a calm, affectionate personality. And will be a terrific companion for some lucky person or family. With soft brown eyes that will make you melt and a smooth, easy care coat this little fella is quite a handsome boy. Sammy is a Chihuahua/ dachshund mix and is about 5 years old. He is house and crate trained and is very well behaved on a leash. Sammy loves children and going for walks. He has done well with his doggie foster brothers ... (Read More)and sisters and seems to be fine with cats around. His personality is unbeatable! Sammy LOVE'S to be with his person. He is happiest when he is right there with you whatever you're doing. Sammy is calm, likes to be held and will let you rub his tummy for as long as you're willing. Sammy has been fixed and to get ready for his new home he has been seen by our vet. He is up to date on all standard vaccines and is heartworm negative. He is currently on flea and heartworm prevention. Our vet says he's in great health with no known medical problems. We do our best to place our fosters is the right type of home to suite their individual needs. With this goal in mind, Sammy's new home will have to have a fenced in yard for him to enjoy the sunshine. He would do well with a family or as a companion for seniors. Sammy does not enjoy being by himself for long periods of time, we will need to take the amount of time he will be alone when evaluating potential adopters. **** FCDF performs a home visit with the prospective animal. No out of State/Area adoptions will be possible. FCDF requires a vet reference and that any dogs or cats owned by the perspective family be fixed.**** (Less)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

Hello. My daughter bought a chi mix from a shelter last November. He was 3.5 months, very food aggressive, would not go to anyone, etc. Since then, he's gotten better with me, comes to me, snuggles me, but is OCCASIONALLY aggressive towards others. He He does not seem to like men and has gone after them, biting. He's also gone after my kids and their friends with no provocation. He seems to get annoyed or is just too territorial. The vet thinks he needs medicated, others think he needs his thyroid checked and I wonder if he's not mentally ill. He came from something bad and has taken forever to be the sweet boy he is to me. I don't want him ... (Read More)in a shelter. I'd like him with someone who can work with him. It breaks my heart because he's so sweet to me, but I can't have a biter in the house when I have kids here all the time. Please let me know if you can help. I'm located in northern AL. Thank you for your help. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-19-00449  (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Stan is a lively, friendly Chiweenie we rescued last year from a situation where he was not being taken care of. He fit right into our family. He did test positive for heartworm when we rescued him--he has been treated and is heartworm clear as of his last checkup. All vaccinations current. Stan has gotten along well with our other dog (but being the larger animal, he was the alpha male) and my children. Stan has lots of energy and loves to play. We are looking for a loving home for Stan where he can get the attention and love he deserves.

There are many older dogs at the shelter. They wait each day patiently for a forever family and home. Each day these older dogs watch as younger dogs and puppies get adopted. Yet, they keep smiling and wagging their tails hoping the next family that walks by them will notice and stop and say hello. One of these dogs is Lucky. Lucky is an 8 year old male. His birthday is March 25th. He is waiting for his new forever family and home. He still has his paws crossed that he will get adopted soon. Melissa Rice sponsors Lucky at the shelter while he waits for his forever family and home. Thank you Melissa for all you do for Lucky. Please contact or ...
