Nala is a sweet sweet little dog that is the most amazing mix of breed. We don't know what she is mixed with other then she is a Dachshund mix. She is great in the house and learning all her doggy manners very fast. She would be perfect with a house that has other dogs, cats and kids ... (Read More)to play with. This is what her foster mommy has to say: She's a little shy when you first meet her, but once she's comfy around you, she's real energetic and fun. She'll definitely need a play buddy and some toys, because she 's very playful. She'll need to be around younger dogs though, because she plays A LOT but she is pretty calm for a puppy. She doesn't misbehave much, but every once in awhile she'll feel a little mischievous. She likes to snuggle and loves attention. The adoption fee is $200. Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This sweet boy is Aries. He is a three year old chiweenie with the sweetest disposition. He and his brother, Zeus, were surrendered to us by their owner. Aries is very timid and would do best in a home with no big dogs. He is heartworm negative, kennel trained, up to date on his shots and neutered. Aries is a great dog. It takes him a little time to get comfortable in a new place, but he warms up after a day or two and is the perfect lap dog!

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-20-00523Little Buddy (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Buddy is an incredible little survivor dog that is just 16 pounds, stands about 14 inches at the shoulder and appears to be dachshund/small terrier mix (just a big guess). Buddy is incredibly cute, has a very sweet and loving disposition despite all he has been through physically, plus all the emotional drama that comes with being in an attack that almost took his life. He is playful, loves to go on hikes and does well on a leash. He would be great with someone who likes to take daily walks. He has been going on 6 mile hikes without any problem. He however must always wear a harness (never a collar) because of the injuries he sustained to ... (Read More)his neck area after being attacked. He seems to be more trusting with women than men, but is fine with a household with both. The ideal home will have someone with him during the day and can be the only spoiled canine. He would not do well with small children, not because he is a threat, but because of the injuries he sustained. Although he has fully recovered from his physical injuries his throat lost most of the muscle in the frontal area of his neck so making sure he does not suffer any additional injuries to that area is very important and children around him maybe too much. He likes cats but is a little hesitant around dogs. When on walks at the park he gives big dogs plenty space around him. He does love walking outside but he is most definitely an inside dog. He is gentle, sweet and wants to make his person happy. Buddy is not usually timid but shies away from some unusual things, such as a watering can, fish in the pond, shoreline, having his picture taken (no kidding) etc. Although he has been allowed on furniture, he is perfectly happy just being in his daybed next to wherever his owner is. He is a very well behaved little boy. He will be a delightful and loving addition to any home. To adopt this sweet boy who deserves a happy forever after please go to our website and complete the pre-adoption application: http://www.southernskiesrescue.org/ (Less)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Fifi was dumped at a small shelter because she was old. she was pulled immediately and brought to rescue. We immediately took her to our vet for spay, dental and vaccines and found she is NOT OLD - she had horrible dental issues and had been poorly cared for. Since recovering from surgery she has a new lease on life! She is about 6 years old and 8 pounds with a soft, smooth Doxie type coat. She loves going outside, playing, sunning and snuggling. She is the perfect companion for retirees or a stay at home owner. She is good with other quiet dogs. older children would be fine, but no toddlers.     Elvis This handsome boy is ready to steal your heart and leave you all shook up. Elvis is a sweet and happy little guy with an affectionate personality, a cute face and a beautiful soft coat that's just right for petting. Elvis is a Chihuahua, long haired dachshund mix. He's approximately 2 years old and at 12 pounds, he's just the right size for a lap or cuddle on the couch. Elvis loves to be held and get and give kisses. This boy wants to be right with you whatever you're doing and is a terrific little companion. Elvis is house and crate trained. He loves to go for walks, car rides and getting sun in the back yard. He gets along with ... (Read More)other dogs and children. Elvis is gentle and an all-around well behaved boy. To get ready for his new home, Elvis has been fixed and is current on his vacations. He is Heartworm negative and is in excellent health. We do our best to place our fosters in the right type of environment to suite their individual needs. With this goal in mind and due to his smaller size, we will not place Elvis in a home with children under 5. Elvis's new home will need to have a yard and his new family will need to commit to walking him regularly. Homes with at least 1 small, well-tempered doggy friend present are preferred and will be given the first opportunity to adopt. ***** A current vet reference is required. No out of state or area adoptions are possible.***** (Less)
